Columbia, Nov. 5.?That a teacher has a legal right to whip a bad pupil, f the punishment is not brutal, is an pinion rendered by Attorney General Wolfe, at the request of a High School Principal in the Eastern part of Williamsburg county, who writes that he has been warned by the father of one of his pupils not to whip the boy. But the boy needs the lash. The father came to the teacher and told him that his lawyer had said there was a state law against corporal punishment in public schools. The teacher wrote immediately to the attorney general for an opinion, and this has just been rendered, to the effect that the/e is no such law on the S tatute books. The attorney general advises the teacher that if the corporal punishment is brutal, then the law has a right to step in. m.i . A Ladjr -in Chicago Telegraphs for Rat-Snap.
