McCalla in honor of her charming guest, Miss Gladys Jackson, of Gaffney.. The stately old colonial home, surrounded by majestic oaks, was brilKant with electric lights and gay with flowers for this festive oc VltMIVll* During the afternoon and evening about forty ladies from the town and surrounding community called to enjoy the hospitality of this splendid country home. The guests were met by Miss Cornelia Tennent and presented to the lovely honoree by the hostess in her sweet gracious manner. The reception hall, parlor and dining room were thrown into one, and artistically decorated with pink asters and trailing ivy. The color scheme, pink and white, was especially noticeable in the diningroom, and was beautifully carried out in the refreshments, which consisted of angel cake, cream and mints. Those assisting the hostess in the dining room were, Mrs. Leona Clinkscales, Misses Ellen Tennent, Pauline Clinkscales and JuHa Bell. In a bower decorated with flowers and trailing vines, the punch bowl was presided over .by Misses Louise Bell and Annie Nickels. * Miss Jackson is one of Gaffney's prettiest and most popular young ladies and by her genial manner and attractive personality has made marfy warm friends during her visit to Mrs. MeCalla. v On last Friday afternoon Miss El; lem Tennent gave a delightful card party in honor of Miss Gladys Jackson. The house was beautifully dec orated with urns of cut flowers and ferns. Mrs. Margaret Mann Wright died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ann Broadwell last Saturday from i the infirmities of age. being in her j 85th year. She was taken ill while ' on a visit to her daughter and was j unable to be removed to her home, j She was the last of her generation, j parents, husband, brothers and sis| iters all having been dead several I years.
