The dance, which was the crowning vent of the "Welcome Home" celeration, took place Thursday night i the Opera House, immediately afer the handsome picture, Cleopatra, rhich was shown by manager Kay. 'he dancing was on the large stage nd presented a-bright and charming cene to the many interested spectaors in the audience. / Dancing began about ten o'clock, he Grand March being led by Mr. tarry Wilson, chairman of the comlittee, with Mrs. Jack Pressly, and Ir. William Barnwell with Mrs. 'homas Marchant of Greenville, fol>wed by a long line of soldiers, ailors and civilians each with a retty young lady beautifully dressd, tripping the light fantastic toe, tie excellent music furnished by the ordan Band. The Confederate reterans were invited to take part 1 the march by Manager Wilson, but ew availed themselves of the opporanity, giving way to the young vetrans, having in their minds their wn joyous return from war many ears ago. , t , There were many parties of young eople from surrounding towns who sined in the merry dance, the young idies adding their beauty, and the oung men their chivalry and galmtry to the charming occasion. Dancing was kept up until a late our and when it was over the young oldiers felt that the old town had pened her heart to them and that hey were, indeed, welcome home. The occasion will make a bright pot in the lives of all who took part ,nd will be remembered for many ong years.
