SIX I ] Merchant Found 1 Benefit at Last Customers Tell Him of His Remarkable Improvement? He Gained 25 Pounds. W. S. White, a well known merchant of St. Elmo, a Tennessee sub- ' urg of Chattanooga, recently made 1 this remarkable statement regarding his experience with Tanlac: "Most everybody coming into my ' store is telling me how much better j . ?r, I am looking, and no wonder, for I j < have gained twenty-five pounds in actual weight since I began to takej Tanlac. For months I haev been in,1 a terrible run down condition and had no appetite or energy. I fell off.( in weight and got so weak until I ! could not attend to my business. I 1 was nervous and dizzy and took no interest in anything. ! "I have taken three bottles of J Tanlac and my improevment is remarkable. I weighed one hundred 1 and thirty-five pounds before taking i Tanlac and now I weigh one hundred and sixty, and, although I am a man of sixty years, I fell like a man of,' forty. My strength and energy have;' returned, I eat like a farm hand, and 1 feel fine all the time. Tanlac is the ' greatest medicine in the world." . 1 Tanlac, the master medicine, is sold exclusively by P. B. Speed, Ab- j beville; A. S. Cade, Bordeaux; J. T. . Black, Calhoun Falls; J. H. Cars Offered A me or You Wi ese Cars on the MUSIC BY THEN AND NOW. (New York Herald.) I cannot help contrasting the condition of our soldiers to-day with those of 1861. For instance, we vol-j unteered and fought four years to' save America. As a reward for bur patriotism we received the munificent sum of $13 pef month and that was all. They fought less than two years to save France and England. For that service they received $30 per month, provision made for their dependents at home, insurance and a bonus of $60 to tide them over until they get their positions back. Our; casualties were forty-two per cent of the number of troops engaged, and theirs nine per cent. We paraded down Pennsylvania avenue in Washington after the war, an ordinary holiday procession?no special enthusiasm or welcome home. My regiment returned to New York and no one except our relatives knew or "cared whether we returned or not and two hours after we landed we were scattered like a handful of chaff before a high wind.
