FRIDAY, DECEMBER 20, 1918 DR. BRISTOW'S WORK. y? . , .?r (The Columbia Record.) We cannot let the Rev. Louis J. Bristow pass from our community without calling attention to the ex eellent work that he has done. His remarkable financiering ability has no doubt saved theBaptist State Hospital from a great many hardships? perhaps worse. Some years ago when Dr. Bristow was pastor of the Baptist Church at ****1 * * 1 1-? ? J T? n i cf winiamston ne urgeu mc juoj/iwu i state convention to locate a home for! aged persons, an infirmary. From! that idea grew the more pretentious' plans, and today the Baptist State! Hospital is a credit to the great de-j nomination whose name it bears and' is in fact a monument to the labors j of Louis J. Bristow. It was never Mr. Bristow's wish or! intention to be connected with the | management of the institution, but' he was prevailed upon to give up| his pastorate at Abbeville to take! charge of the institution's active j management. We have been, told J that he has in two years liquidated: a floating debt of $17,000. For some; time he has felt that the affairs of: the institution should be turned over! to others in order that he might go back to his professional work. * Ho Ioqttoq in a fonr +n Hp.! come pastor of the Baptist congregation at Abbeville, where he promoted the building of a beautiful new house o| worship. The Record cannot let Dr. Bristow -lebve our community without a testimonial of regard for him as a man and citizen as well as a statement of our belief that he has accomplished a wonderful work with the Baptist State Hospital.
