Mr. Rutledge Connor, of Orangeburg, was in the city over Sunday, isiting friends. Mrs. William Speed returned Saturday from a visit to Mrs. Thomas Marchant in Greenville. Lucien Lomax has been discharged from the army and is back among his friends agoin. Mr. Ernest Hipp of Clinton, spent the week-end here with Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Hipp. ???? Mr. L. D. Witt ctae down from Greenville Sunday and spent the day with Mrs. Witt, at the Eureka. Miss Mary Lawson Link has returned from an extended visit to her friend, Miss Summers, in Columbia. Corp. James Hemphill spent Sun-j day with his home people, returning' to Camp Jackson over the Southern. Mrs, U. Kay has been mustered ut of the service and is back home, j The coming of peace knocked him out of a good trip to France. J i j John Lomax is out of the war and out of his sporty looking sailor suit all at the same time and is back at: kis old job at Philson and Henry's, j i : i Julian Roche has been mustered nf sprvipp and will commence work at once for the Abbeville Cot-j ton Mills, where he was a valued em-1 ployee before< the war. His friends' are glad to see him back. KAY-THOMSON MARRIAGE. The marriage of. Miss Mamie Kay and Mr. S. Goode Thomson, Jr., was solemnized at the home of the bride last Thursday evening, Dec. 12th, 1918, in the presence of a few friends and relatives. The bride was attired in a pretty grey afternoon dress, which set off, her blonde beauty. She entered the. room on the arm ol the young groom, j where the interesting ceremony that made them one was performed by Rev. M. R. Plaxco. Miss Kay has made her home in Abbeville for a number of years. She kp.s taken an active part in the Red Cross and Canteen work and has enjoyed the gaities of the young people. Mr. Thomson is with the Peoples Bank, and is a young man liked by; all who know him. The young pouple start in life with the congratulations and good' I wishes of a host of friends. " Ab Taylor appeared complaining , that Lethe Clinkscales had taken his ' fine Rhode Island Red Rooster. Lethe ! / \ was summoned to appear and did so and claimed that the rooster was hers, that she had raised it.
