Miss Parker has charge v f an Army Canteen and is writing ^ )me interesting letters to her rela- ] ves back home. T In March Miss Parker spent sev- j ral days in Paris and witnessed t ne of the first air raids. After t hich she went down into Brittainy r or a rest, for here one scarcely j ealizes that France is at war. It ? n s possible to get good butter and sugar for breakfast every day. One if the impressive sights she saw there was an American railway, in process of construction. This railway was brought?at least a part :>f it?intact from Oklahoma. The Canteen of which which Miss * Parker is in charge is proving to be i bright spot in the lives of the soldiers who pass that way. On one I light coffee and bread were given! :o over three thousand men and oficers in an interval of less than t ;ight hours, which is example of i American efficiency. Sometimes it is only possible to serve the men' ivith sandwiches, fruit and tobacco. . In most army canteens breakfast! s served from eight to nine and! :onsists of eggs, coffee and bread,, ind the charge is one franc?about ;wenty cents in American money?| ?or luncheon, from half past eleven | :o half past one, meat and vegeta-: )les with a simple pudding is the nenu, while supper consisst of hot :akes and syrup, which the men jJ ike.
