BLUES.
I've got those blue, blue blues
As sure is I can talk
I wish they would soon disappear,
And let :ne rest a wiilk
These blues are awful I tell you
1 I'd rathe:: be locked in jail
Than to hav^ these blues I've got,
Oh! my heart seems to fail.
These blues get every where
The worst is in my m:nd
. When they keep telling me
About the luck I'll frad
I And next into my throat; they step If
And seem to strangle there,
These blues are an awful fate
I do now declare. ' .
' * ,11

r And next-into my eyes they creep [1
? And there they take a stay,
: And no matter^ how much soap I use ?j
? They will not wash away.
But stay, and reckon?what I see ||
The Kaiser in his groat armchair j|,
And me upon my knee. "Z
I Asking him, the mean old wretch, .
For liberty, food and bread, I
. And then I see him scornfully grin j
And joyously shake his head, *
> And out thu door I the:i do go
To starve, die or liv?s
' For not a bite of food did he give.
And you know I'll be glad o;i that
day
When these blues are gone away,
When all this war is stopped
And the sun is shining bright
(And mud is. out of sight
[ And when Mama won't make me
sweep every minute in the day
If all this happens the blues
Will surely banish away.
