because the skin pores do not 1

pores do. '
For every ounce of food and J
drink taken into the stomach, nearly '
an ounce of waste material must be '
carried out of the body. If this '
waste material is not eliminated day <
day by day it quickly ferments and j
generates poisons, gases and toxins *
which are absobed or sucked into

WILL HAVE CAMPS READY
FOR THE NATIONAL ARMY
Federal Government Calls Guard Engineers
to Assist in Preparing
Cantonments.
Washington, June 22.?There wil!
be no serious delay in constructor
of the 16 cantonments for the national
army, Secretary Baker said
today, and all of the establishments
probably will be ready about Sepl?1
fVvo tonfntive dav consider
tCUlUCi JL J Vitv VV..^ ^
ed for summoning to the colors the
first 625,000 men.
The process of selecting the men,
the secretary indicated, probably wil]
be set in motion early in July.
Reflations for the exemption and
selection processes have been prepared
and will be made public next
week. President Wilson is understood
to have approved the general
scheme worked out by the war department
to secure fair and unselfish
application of the law through local
officials. Minor modifications are
being made but plans will be completed
in a few days.
Machinery for the great task of
constructing the 16 cantonments also
is virtually complete. Under an order
published today, the engineer
units of the National Guard will be
mustered in the federal service immediately
to aid in technical features
)f the work.
At each cantonment, all construction
operations will be under direction
of the construction quartermaster.
Seven of the men designated
for these posts are regular army offi
:ers and the other nine are successful
civilian engineers who have been
:ommissioned as majors in the quartermaster's
reserve corps.
The only question as to cantonment
sites that is not finally settled,
Mr. Baker said, involves a possible
relocation of the cantonment now assigned
to Des Moines.
Building of the cantonments, the
secretary said, would proceed on the
present general specifications though
some minor modifications would be
made because of suggestions by the
medical committee of the defense
council.
The main problems now are those
jf material and transportaion. A
new difficulty has presented itself in
the shape of a shortage of iron
water pipe.
By way of emphasizing what car
be done in a short time when all the
resources of the department are put
to work, officials revealed today that
cantonments for the regular army
made necessary by the expansion for
war purposes have been rushed almost
to completion.
The engineers given reserve corps
majors' commissions and made constructing
quartermasters in Southern
cantonments are: William Couper of
the Pennsylvania railroad, Columbia
cantonment; James Pease, Columbus
Ga., Atlanta cantonment; Frank E.
Lamphere of the Baltimore & Ohio
railroad. Louisville canonment, and
John R. Fordyce, Little Rock, Little
Rock cantonment.
Among the regular officers named
is constructing quartermasters in
Capt. Frank B. Edwards, Peersburg.
Today's orders calling National
Guard engineers into the federal service
applied to engineer troops in
jhe guard establishments of South
Carolina, Georgia, Massachusetts,
^ew York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana,
Michigan, Illinois, Mississippi,
!owa, Kansas, Texas, California and

DARKEN GRAY HAIR,
I LOOK YOUNG, PRETTY
Sage Tea and Sulphur Darkens So
Naturally that Nobody Can

Hair that loses its color and lustre
or when it fades, turns gray, dull
and lifeless, is caused by a lack of
sulphur in the hair. Our grandmother
made up a mixture of Sage
Tea and Sulphur to keep her locks
dark and beautiful, and thousands
of women and men who value that
even color, that beautiful dark
shade of hair which is so attractive,
use only this old-time rceipe.
Nowadays we get this famous mixture
improved by the additon of
other ingredients by asking at any
drug store for a 50-cent bottle of
"Wyeth's Sage and Sulphur Compound,"
which darkens the hair so
naturally, so evenly, that nobody
can possibly tell it has been applied.
You just dampen a sponge or soft
brush with it and draw this through
your hair, taking one small strand
at a time. By morning the gray
hair disappears; but what delights
the ladies with Wyeth's Sage and
Sulphur Compound, is that, besides
beautifully darkening the hair after
a few applications, it also brings
back the gloss and lustre and gives
it an appearance of abundance.
