Headquarters 209 Meeting Street,
Charleston, S. C. Sub-statons:
T Columbia, Florence and Greenville.
Editor The Press and Banner:?
The Naval Recruiting Officer reports
that results are beginning to
show from the President's appeal
; for the Navy to be recruited to war
strength.
Since Sunday, the 25th, over 120
Have applied for enlistment; about
35 of these being Charlestonians.
However, due to the urgency 01 mis
call and the enthusiastic response
with which it is being met by the
North and East, the Recruiting Officer
expressed himself as beinfe a
little disappointed with the results
to date.
Lieutenant Cooper stated that,
"While in no manner wishing to de'
tract from the imperative call of
duty which is urgent and every American
owes his country, he again
appeals to eligible boys and theirs
parents to consider the Navy as a
gateway to unlimited opportunities
for personal advancement.
