A Misses Mary and Sara Perrin were visitors to Greenwood last Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Wilfie Williams of Antreville, were in the city on Monday. t * 1 Rev. J. B. Hillhouse was called to Chester Monday to be with Mrs. Hillhouse, who was operated on at the Pryor hospital Tuesday. Mr. P. B. Morrah of Mt. Carmel, was in the city Monday on business. John K. McDorman passed through Abbeville Monday on his way to Greenwood. Willie McDonald, of Atlanta, spent Sunday in the city with his home people on Magazine street Robt. S. Owens spent the weekend with relatives at Clinton, and returned home Monday via Newberry, having spent a few hours with friends there. Mr. T. Talfourd Mosby, Jr., was a week-end visitor in Abbeville to his cousin, Mrs. Henry Hill. ' Mr. Mosby was born and reared in Abbeville and is now making New York his home. Percy Leach was home for a few days and returned to his studies at Clemson on Monday, having spent Sunday in Savannah with friends. Mrs. William Elliott, of Thomasville, N. C., has been in the city , for several days visiting her niece, Mrs. Fred S. Hill. Bodney 0. Stephens, of the S. C. University, spent several days last week here with his home people. I Mrs. J. M. Daniel and little Miss I Annie Beaudrot returned on last Saturday from a delightful visit of two weeks to relatives and friends in Chester. Mrs. J. L. Daniels went over to her home in Laurens last Friday for a short visit. Allen Haskell was one of the Clemson boys who came home for a short holiday last week. There is some complaint in the county about the chickens dying with cholera. Just another hard luck and hard time story. Miss Margaret Reese of Abbeville, was one of the guests of honor at the Banquet gvien to Dr. Sikes ' at Coker College last week. Miss Margaret is teaching successfully in the lower section of the state and her friends here rejoice at her sue cess. Misq, Bessie Allen, the pretty teacher of the first grade at the Abbeville Grammar school, went up ) to Greenville Friday afternoon to spend a while with her home people and to take in the fashion show. Mrs. T. J. Crymes came over from Greenwood last week and visited Mrs. J. D. Kerr and attended the millinery openings at our up-todate stores. William Mahon, who is so popular among the young people at Abbeville, has returned to his home at Williamston. Mrs. Ames Haltiwanger of Columbia, is here on a visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Cheatham near the city. Mrs. Haltiwanger came to be with her mother, who has been quite kick for several weeks, but is now <jn the road to recovery. .J Glenn Baskin went to Greenville Saturday and stayed with friends until Monday. Lowry Wilson visited friends in Washington, Ga., on Saturday and Sunday. Miss Eunice Calhoun is in Spartanburg on a visit to friends. Mrs. Walter Zimmerman and her two attractive children, are in Anderson visiting Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Cason. Dr. G. W. Swope returns today from a two weeks stay in Richmond, where he has taken part in a revival meeting. Rev. D. W. Bosdell, who filled the pulpit during his absence, returned to his home in Mississippi Monday. Mr. Ernest Visanska, Esq., was here from Charleston the first of the week on business. Prof, and Mrs. D. H. Henry, of Clemson, were here for the latter part of the week with Mrs. Francis Henry. Mrs. W. J. McKee and Mrs. H. S. Camp, of near Due West, were in the city Monday shopping. Mrs. George Smith and Master Joe Smith, of Breezewood, spent ' several days of last week here with Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Hammond. Misses Mae Welborn, Daisy Maxwell, and D. Wardlaw spent Sunday very pleasantly at the home of Mr. S. M. Wardlaw in the Sharon section. Mr. W. P. Kennedy blew into the city Friday afternoon on the five o'clock "cannon ball" and made all the young ladies in. town happy by dispensing his sweet- smiles with a lavish hand. Miss Gertrude Calvert returned on Monday from Chester and will be at home until she gains her strength and is able to resume her studies. John Calvert spent Sunday in Chester and returned with Miss Gertrude. Mrs. Frank Benton left Monday for a visit to her sister, Mrs. Dr. Palmer at Wedgefield. Mrs. H. A. Speer spends most of her time in Anderson now and does' not visit Abbeville as often as she used to. She is looking well and our people were glad to see her.
