MT. CARMEL. Mt. Carmel, Oct. 16.?Quite a number of automobilesr passed through Mt. Carmel Thursday morning en route to Anderson to take in the circus. T r? CqAO Miosoq drmcioilrn and Julia Cade spent several hours in Calhoun Falls Friday afternoon. Miss Elinor Halliday left Friday morning to spend a few days with her brother, Mr. Chisolm Halliday at Erskine College in Due West. Messrs. Douglas Black and Bowie spent Thursday in Anderson attending the Ringling Bros. Circus. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Cade and Mrs. J. J. McKellar and Miss Kathryn McKellar spent Wednesday afternoon in Abbeville. Mr. G. W. Tarrant, Misses Pickens and Gladys Tarrant spent Wednesday in Abbeville. Messrs. W. L. Miller and M. T. Wells spent Monday night in Augusta Mrs. J. T. Scott, Misses Mabel and Mildred Boyd spent Friday in Abbe\ ville. Mrs. M. L. Dr. and Mrs. Humphreys of Bethune, S., C., have been spending several days with the latter's parents, r. and Mrs. W. R. Boyd, much to the delight of their many friends. T. Paschal. Miss Myrtle Dean, after an extended visit to relatives and friends in Georgia, has returned home, much to the delight of her many menas. Mr. R. W. Cowan is the proud owner of a new model Ford. It is a beauty. Miss Dora Black, one of the teachers at Calhoun Falls, spent the weekend with her parents, Dr. and Mrs. P. K. Black. Mt. Carmel is a good cotton market this year, as it has sold as high as 17 % cents, and cotton seed are selling for 85 cents per bushel. Quite a white frost was noticed one morning the past week, near the river. At a conference of the Baptist church last Sabbath, Rev. Mr. Campbell, the pastor, tendered his resignation. The Mt. Carmel people all enjoyed this good man's sermons, dnd regret he will not be with us next year. ' Mr. and Mrs. Calhoun Harris ami children spent the week-end with Mr and Mrs. J. W. Morrah. Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Morrah and little Hessie and Bradley, motored to Anderson Wednesday afternoon to spend several days. While there they attended the circus. Messrs. G. W. Tarrant and Howard Blaek motored to Anderson Thursday morning to attend the circus.
