The ground was covered with hail and it was the heaviest rain we have had in years. Mrs. Emma Knox is spending a while with her mother, Mrs. Pressley, near Little Mountain. Mr. W. H. Harton spent Tuesday in Abbeville on business. Mr. H. N. McCain of McCormick, was in town Monday afternoon. Miss Maggie Knox left Monday I for an extended visit to friends in Anderson. Miss Emily Mae Hester went over to Greenwood last Saturday to attend the funeral of her little cousin, Master Henry Taggart, whose death occurred Friday from ptomaine poisoning. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bowen and Mr. and Mrs. William McNier of Willington, attended services at the A. R. P church last Sabbath morning. Mr. J. D. Cade has recently purchased a new Ford car. Frazier spent several days with her brother, Mr. Claude McAlister, during the past week. Mr. T. E. Leard of Troy, S. C., was in town Monday. The pupils of Mt. Carmel High School, organized a Literary Society Friday afternoon. Mrs. H. S. Cason returned home Wednesday afternoon after several weeks stay in the Hospital in Spartanburg. We are glad to say that her health is much better, and we hope she will continue to improve. Mr. J. H. Chiles of Bradley, S. C., was in town Monday. The pupils of Miss Dora Black spent Friday night at her home. Miss Dora entertained the "younger set" Friday evening in their honor. Mr. Wyatt Ferguson has been very sick with pneumonia, but is improving some. We hope he will soon get well.
