Miss Kathleen Gage and Miss Madeline
Tilley have gone to Abbeville to
visit Mrs. Fred Cason. They will
also spend a while in Anderson be- j

Prof. J. L. Grier came down from ;
Due West last Friday' and visited his j
friend, Rev. M. K. flaxco until Saturday
afternoon. While here he attended
the meeting of the Teachers'
Association and presided over that
body for the first time since his election
as President of the Association.
Mr. M. B. Reese has returned from
Hot Springs, where he went a month
ago for his health. He is feeling better
and is back at the old stand for
business. Miss Charlotte Reese, who
spent the time with her grandmother,
came home also, to the delight of her
little friends.

returned to her home in Greenville.

Sarah Blakely were in from Lethe

last Saturday taking in the meeting '
of the Teachers Association.
Mrs. Sam Cooper, of Mullins, is in
the city spending some time with her

Capt. and Mrs. Emory Penney and '
their daughter, Margaret, came over
from Lancaster last week and visited
Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Penney, on
Depot Hill for several days.
Miss Willie Sue Nicholas has returned
to her home in Charlottesville,
Va., after a pleasant visit to
friends in Abbeville and in the county.
Miss Nicholas made a pleasant
impression on all our people who look
forward to her coming again.
Miss Ruth McLane from Erskine J
College, spent several days last week
with her home people. She played

beyond the shops. She walked
into town, a distance of over three
miles. She will go to Florida for the
Spring season.
HON. FRANK B. GARY.
Hon. Frank B. Gary has just finished
a term of Court at Greenville;
at least, he has finished the trial of
jury cases. He returns to Greenville
today to hear a few equity matters,
and to sign some necessary orders,
The papers at Greenville credit him
with handling the business of the
court with ability, dignity and disnateh.
THE BOOK CLUB.
The Book Club will meet with Miss
Grace Smith this morning:, Wednesday.
at eleven o'clock. Each member
is requested to bring her first,
second, third and fourth choice of
books written on a slip of paper with
her name signed so that in ordering
new books every one may be pleased.
There are three vacancies in the
membership to be filled and a full
meeting is desired.

was the "spend-the-day" party, at j
which Mrs. Henry Crigler entertained

Mrs. Crigler's home was beautiful j

Mr. Ringan Thomson knows how to
keep and feed a 'possum. Some time
| ago he bought a possum and put it
\ down in the cellar of his store for
safe keeping. One morning the
possum had disappeared and for several
days nothing was seen of it but
1 the eggs and cheese in the store were
getting away faster than the law al
lowed. One morning the posusm was
5 found in the store helping himself to
eggs, so now Mr. Thomson has a fine i
fattened possum to kill.
