Miss Annie Bell, of this place, has 1
had charge of a school five miles east, i
for some time. Last Monday evening
she had dismissed the school and 1
she and the pupils walked into the i
yard when there came a flash of a
lightning, struck a tree a few yards i
away, also, struck and shattered one
or two telephone posts, also one or
two posts holding the electric plants
wire, shattered them, struck the s
hoisted umbrella, shivered it, shocked 1
her so that she fell unconscious, killed
outright one of the little girls by *
her side, a little daughter of Mr. Geo.
Hill, ten or twelve years of age, and (
severely shocked about fifteen of I
the other pupils. The teacher has
so far recovered from her shock and ?

duties as teacher, but when a meeting
was called Wednesday to decide
when the school should begin again, t
it was determined not to open it 1

Mrs. D. S. Edwards entertained a
number of young ladies Tuesday
morning in honor of the bride of the
week, Miss Hattie Taylor.
One of the prettiest weddings that
ever occurred'in Due West took place
at the home of Mr. W. W. Edwards,
when Miss Hattie Taylor became the
wife of Mr. Aultmann, of Donaldsville,
Ga. The guests were met at
the door by Mrs. H. E. Pressly, who
took them to register in the bride's
Book. Miss Georgia Haddon kept
the register. The guests were then
shown into the sitting room where
the presents were displayed. There
were a great number of beautiful
gifts, conspicuous among which was
a complete chest of silver.
Shortly after eight o'clock, the
chorus "0 Perfect Love" was sung by
Mrs. 0. Y. Bonner, Mrs. 0 Y. Brownlee,
Miss Georgia Haddon, Messrs.
D. S. and W. W. Edwards. Immediately
after this Lohenerin's Bridal
Chorus was sung, and with the first
notes of it the ribbon bearers, Misses
Harriet Edwards and Berthr Pressly
came into the parlor making an
aisle of pink ribbon. Following
these came the ushers, Messrs Everett
Taylor and James Bonner. Next
came Misses Verginia Edwards and
Lila Bonner, bearing baskets of pink
roses. As soon as they had taken
their places on each side of the sliding
doors, Misses Lizzie Hagen and
Pearle Townsend, both beautifully
gowned in pink crepe de chine, entered
the parlor together and separated
in front of an altar \of ferns.
Next came the groom with his best
man, Mr. Reynolds. The ringbearer,
Miss Belle Edwards, entered next

bride look prettier than in her white

in place by a wreath of orange blossoms.
