McDonald and Mr. Will Caldwell, of Columbia, spent Friday night in Due West. Miss Isabel Miller has returned to her home in Xinety-Six. Miss Ollie Adams, of Pendleton, spent a few days this week with Miss Julia Moffatt. The chief event of interest in town this week was the marriage of Miss Julia Baird to Rev. Moses Ralph Gibson of Covington, Tenn., which took place on Wednesday evening. The house was beautifully decorated for the occasion. After the guests had all assembled, Misses Agnes Devlin and Helen Galloway sang a beautiful selection. Then the wedding march was played, and the two officiating ministers, Rev. J. P. Knox, of Columbia, and Rev. J. P. Pressly, of Due West, took their places in front of an altar made of large White columns entwined with daisy chains, and banks of fern. Next came the groom with his best man. Rev. R. T. Kerr, of Bradley. Closely following them came the maid of honor, Miss Josie Baird, wearing a beautiful robe of white organdie and carrying white carnations. The bride entered next on the arm of her brother, Mr. Neill Baird, and joined the groom immediately in front of the two ministers. The ceremony was performed by the bride's uncle, Rev. Knox, with her pastor, Rev. J. P. Pressly assisting. The bride's gown was of white organand lace, and her veil was held in l place by a wreath of orange blossoms. Immediately after the ceremony, the bride and groom left for Asheville. The bride is a charming young woman, and her friends in Due West all! hate to give her up. The groom is the popular and efficient pastor of the A. R. P. church at Covington, Tennessee. Mrs. L. C. Galloway and Miss Helen j Galloway entertained in honor of the' bride-elect. Dr. Mark Ellis is visiting his home people. Dr. Luther Ellis is at home again after an extended visit in Florida. Rev. J. P. Pressly returned home from Virginia Wednesday, where he attended the marriage of his brother. Dr. W. L. Pressly. Rev. and Mrs. J. P. Knox, of Columbia. and Hon. A. G. Brice. of Chester, were among the visitors to attend the Baird-Gibson wedding. Miss Florine Carothers, of Rock Hill, is visiting Miss Mary Boyce. Miss Lucile Faulkner, who has been for souie weeks the guest of Mrs. A. B. Baird, left Friday for Charlotte to visit Mrs. .T. C. Stancell. From there she will return to her home in Tennessee. Misses Mamie and Mary Hammond XIcEachern. of Greenville, are the guest of Misses Josie and Hallie Nance. Mrs. Anna Brice Baird left Monday for the hospital in Charlotte where she will undergo treatment. Miss Virginia Reid leaves Wednesday for an extended visit to relatives in Charlotte, N. The guests arrived about 4 o'clock and enjoyed the game of rook until 5, when a lelicious salad course was served, followed by an ice course. Miss Fannie Kate Marsh entertained a group of young people Wednesday afternoon at her home, Hotel McCormick, the occasion being in compliment to Miss Eva Smith, whose presence^in McCormick meets with a hearty welcome.
