services at the Associate Reformed
Presbyterian Church on next Sabbath
morning, the new pastor of the
church, Rev. M. R. Plaxco, will be
ordained and installed. The services
will be conducted by Dr. F. Y.
Pressley of Due West, who will address
the pastor. Rev. E. B. Kennedy,
the former pastor of the
church, will address the people. The
trial sermon for ordinance will be
preached by Rev. Mr. Plaxco.
These services are very impressive
and the members of the church and
the public generally are invited to
oe present.
Services will be at eleven o'clock.
Off On a Pleasure Trip.
Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Anderson leave
this week for Asheville, N. C., where
, they go to attend the annual meeting
of the Tri-State Water and Light
Association of the Carolinas and
Georgia. Mr. Anderson is VicePresident
of the Association and
stands high in the councils of its
It men.
The meetings will be held at "The
Langren", one of the most delightful
places in the city of Asheville.
On Speakers Night, which will be
the climax of the many pleasant features,
Mr. Anderson will be master
of Ceremonies.
Mr. and Mrs. Anderson will be
away a week.
Memorial Services.
Memorial services of the John H.
Winder Division of the Brotherhood
of Locomotive Engineers, were held
in the Baptist church last Sabbath
afternoon at four o'clock. A large
crowd was present and a solemn and
impressive service was held, made
doubly so by the tragic death of Mr.
Fred Link, who was killed last Wednesday
night, and who stood high in
( the councils of the Brotherhood.
The sermon preached by Rev.
M. R. Plaxco, was appropriate to the
occasion and was attentively listened
to by those present.
There was some especially fine
?music by the choir.
Mr. Wideman for the Senate.
Mr. James W. Wideman has announced
his candidacy fo: the Senate.
Mr. Wideman is a y.?uu;; mp.n
highly esteemed in this county both
for his affable manners and his ability.
He is a graduate of the State
University and a man capabu* of
good service in behalf of the county.
The announced candidates so far are
Messrs. Charlton DuRant and ?.ir.
Wideman, both gentlemen having the
confidence of all who know them and
both being men of merit and force.

A Happy Marriage.
Miss Ada Klugh and J. B. Schroeder
were happily married Saturday
afternoon in the Baptist parsonage
by the Rev. Louis J. Bristow, in the
presence of a few relatives and
friends.
Miss Klugh is the daughter of W.
A. Klugh, who lives near Greenwood,
while Mr. Schroeder is one of the
trusted employees of the county. The

wish them a long and happy life.
Singing for the Seceders. '
Mrs. R. E. McKenzie has accepted
an invitation to sing in the A. R. P.
church and last Sabbath charmed the
large congregation present with her
sweet alto voice.
i Mrs. McKenzie has recently married
and moved to Abbeville and she
will be an addition to the different
music circles of the city.

Death of William Barnwell.
William, the only son of Mr. and
Mrs. William Barnwell, died last
Thursday night at five minutes after

weeks. The little: boy was twentytwo
months old, bright and lovable
in his disposition and the pride and
joy of his parents' heart.
Funeral services were held at the
house at six o'clock Friday afternoon,
conducted by Rev. Mr. Guignard
of the Episcopal church, in the
presence of a large crowd of sorrowing
friends. The choir, composed
of Mrs. Ellis, Miss Mary Hill,
Miss Ada McMillan, Jas. S. Cochran
and W. E. Hill, sang two beautiful
selections, a burial service was read,
after which the interment was at
Melrose cemetery. Here, after the
commitment service was over, the
little grave was left covered with
beautiful flowers, whose beauty and
fragrance bespoke the deepest regret
