DEATH OF MRS. JOHN CHEEK.
How fearfully true, and yet how sad are
;he solemn words: "In the midst of life,
we are in death." Fittingly true and ap
plicable were they to Mrs. John Cheek,
vho, although not well, was not looked
ipon as so seriously ill, as she was down
n the city only on Friday, just a day or so
sre the icy hand of the Reaper was laid
ipon her; and, oh! so suddenly, only a
ew days from life into eternity. What a
ihock to her own family as well as her
nauy friends, and this community who
mew her well and held her in the highest
istecm, as she was a most estimable wo
nan possessing many noble traits of char*
icter, her amiable and useful life is before
his people, and we have no doubt but that
he has reaped its reward.
Her death occurred Sunday afternoon,
uid the funeral services were h^ld at Trin
ty church at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning,
.ervices conducted by pastor Rev. Cornish,
beautiful llowers presented by sorrowing
riends covered the newly made grave,
vhile her gentle spirit has winged its way
uto the beautiful home of the soul beyond
lie river.
The bereaved husband, sisters mid broth
irs have the deepest sympathy of this en
ire community.

tack and kidneys were all badly af
ected and my liver was in bad con
