WINTHBOP INFLUENCE IS WORLD WIDE Graduates of Institution Working in Foreign Countries and at Home "Wisdom is justified of her children" ?"A tree is known by its fruit" are very simple but forceful assertions of an universal truth. The measure of value of an institu tion is the measure of value to society of the individual ptudents whom she sends forth. Each year Winthrop college is send ing out a large number of young women whose influence for good is most potently exerted in the homes and schools of their own State. But Winthrop's influence has spread be yond the borders of her own State. Winthrop's ideas and Winthrop's ideals have crossed the sea. *_ r Tn..nn Afiocj Phorlnttp Ill 1ST a w <%y j apan, illi&o *vww Thompson, of the class of 1904, is Principal of a very large school for girls in Tokio. The brand of New Orleans coffee known as "Luzianne" has come to be a uni versal favorite in South Carolina. "Over at Chester,", writes Mr. T. G. Reily, tho. well known and genial travelling representative of the Reily Taylor Co., of New Orleans, "I was standing in the store of Mr. Richard son. He introduced me to one of his customers, to whom he referred as another 'Luzianne crank.' I asked this man to tell me why he preferred Luzianne to all other coffees. His re ply was a splendid tribute to the goods. He stated that he could illus trate it easier by a very recent experi ence. 'A few days ago when we went to take coffee for breakfast, found that we did rot bav* a bit r.f Luzianiie in the house. My wife wont t j a neigh vho o?i'/ 'i.-.d tiio jslow ground coffee. We put in the same amount as we had been using- of Luzi nrine, tr.J 1 f'-clare to you that the hot water was hardly colored. I had to take three times as much, and then did not get as good coffee as Luzi anne make! Now when we returned the neighbor's coffee we sent her Luzianne. She in turn used as much | as was customary with the bulk roast ed ahd ground, and her coffee was en tirely too strong. She came to us about it, and we explained it to her.
