Rosh Hashonah, as the Jew ish New Year is called, begins a se ries of feasts and fasts that is always fittingly observed by the Jewish pop ulation of this city and of the world. Orthodox Jews devote two days to the celebration of Rosh Hashonah, but the reformed Jews observe only one day. The Hebrew year just closed was an ordinary perfect year of 355 days, but the year 5073 will be an era * - ^ - o oor DOiimiC perieci year ui aou ua.>n. i uc month Tisri, of which today was the first day, is really the seventh month of the Hebrew calendar, Nisan being the first, but Tisri is the first eccles iastical month. Three days after New Year comes the Fast of Guada liah, and six days later comes the Fast of Expiation, or Yom Kippur, the most sacred of all Jewish holy days. The one or two days of Rosh Hosh onah was a general holiday for all of the Hebrew faith, wherever disbursed over the globe. It is the belief of orthodox Jews that on Rosh Haohonah the books in which the fates of the righteous and the wicked are recorded are thrown open for new entries, and that the You] J Yot % are RIGHT. i> represent. 1 ^ ^ O So the best tl ^ that I can O service en'it O willing' to tal o Dependable Clothe For Men an Clothes with every bit of sty into them.
