Some of the candidates utilized the occa sion to further their interests. Our people were all glad to see these good friends. The planters are busy hauling in and housing their long forage. They will this year have more than their usual supply, as most of the late planted corn, on ac count of the late dry hot weather, had to be cut for above purpose, as It made no corn. The dry weather also ruined the nea crop and is seriously daruae-inir the cotton crop, causing the bolls to open too early, lessening the yield very much. Mr. W. T. Magill, candidate for sub-su pervisor, was here a few days ago. A light rain in and around this town Thursday night was beneficial for one day in laying the dust. Troupe. What We Never Forget according to science, are the things associated with our early home life, such as Bucklen's Arnica Salve, that mother or grandmother used to cure our burns, boils, scalds, sores, skin eruptions, cuts, sprains or bruises. Forty years of cures prove its merit. Unrivaled for piles, corns or old sores. Only 25 cents at P. B. Speed's and Mc ilCurray Drug Co. " John W. Rankin, business manager for Baker & Castle's delightful ro mance, "The Goose Girl," was in the icity yesterday, completing arrange ments for the appearance of this sat isfying drama at the Grand Opera House on Friday, September 20th. "The Goose Girl" was written for pub lication by Harold MacGrath and dramatized for stage purposes by George D. Baker. The Men Who Sneceed as heads of large enterprises are men of great energy. Success, today, de mands health. To ail is to fail. It's utter folly for a man to endure a weak, run-down, half alive condition when Electric Bitters will put him right on his feet in short order. "Four bottles did me more real good than any other medicine I ever took," writes Charles B. Allen, Sylvania, Ga." After years of suffering with rheumatism, liver trouble, Btomach. disorders and deranged kidneys, I am again, thanks to Electric Bitters, sound and well." Try them. Only 50 cents at P. B. Speed's and McMur ray Drug Co. Tncle Ezra Says "It don't take more'n a gill uv effort to git folks into a peck of trouble" and a little neglect of constipation, bil iousness, indigestion or other liver derangement will do the same. Baker's dramatization of Harold MacGrath'g novel of the same name, which will be the attraction at the Opera House on September 20tb is a far more pleasing play than U usually offered local tneatregoera. Unlike other plays derived from pop ular novels, none of the effectiveness of the story is lost in the efforts to faithfully carry out the story of the book. To those who have read and en joyed the novel, it is all the more pleasing as a play. None of the hero ics are lost, none of its romance cur tailed and little of the higher quali ties missing. From a dramatic stand point, "The Goose Girl" easily takes its place with the best offerings plac ed before theatregoers. The play is consistently written and revels in thrilling dramatic scenes and situa tions, which are not confined to one or two particular acts, but are spread throughout the entire four acts of the play. The dramatization of the book is an admirable one, far in excess of what is usually presented. Paint-Wise is to paint when your property needs it. Paint-foolish is to wait for the price to go down.
