The coming theatre season opons next
Monday, September 9, under favorable
auspices. The opening attraction is said
to be one of the best that will appear at
the local playhouse this season. "Naugh
ty Marietta" is the title of the piece, which
is a comic opera that enjoyed a good run
on Broadway. The company which will
present "Naughty Marietta!' is headed by
Miss Florence Welber and is sent out by
Oscar Hammerstein. The company is
traveling in a special train of its own and
carries two solid carloads of scenery.
The company is composed of CO people
and carries its own orchestra. Manager j
Cheatham is proud or the fact that ho has I
secured an attraction of such merit with :

tain that his efforts will be rewarded with

Smith, who was Mrs. Cochran's milliner
last season, will be in charge of the milli

Miss Mary Yarbo rough Stark and Dr.
Thomas L. Davis, of Augusta, Gra., were
married l;ist Wednesday at 12 o'clock at
tlio residence of the bride's parents, Mr.
and Mrs. J. S. Stark, Rev. Louis Bristow
officiating. The w edding was a quiet home
affair and only a fow relatives and intimate
friends were present. Dr. Davis is a prom
inent young physician of Augusta where
he has a good practice. Miss Stark is one
of Abbeville's most charming young la
dies and is a favorite with all who kuew
her. Dr. and Mrs. Davis left immediately
after the ceremony for Rochester, Minn.
The best wishes of their friends are ex
tended to them.

Russell left Tuesday for Asheville, N. C.,
where they will spend the remainder of
the summer.
Mrs. James Bowie, Miss Elise Bowie and
Miss Mamie Bowie are at home again after
spending the summer at Asheville, N. C.
