burg. where they attended the meeting of
the Grant! Lodge of Knights of Pythias.
The delegates report a pleasant and profit
able session.
Mr. C. D. Brown, of Abbeville, was un
animously reelected to the office of Grand
Keeper of Becordsand Seals, which he has
tilled so satisfactory for some years past.
The officers elected were as follows:

chancellor.
George W. Dirk, of Sumter, grand vice
chancellor.
H. K. Osborne, of Spartanburg, grand
C" D. Brown, of Abbeville, gram! keeper
of Records and Seals.

The next matter for consideration was
the light for and against the publication of
the South Carolina Pythian.
This was a long drawn out battle and
after the smoke cleared away the vote for
the continuation of the publication great
ly outnumbered those who were opposed
to it.
Several invitations were extended for the
convention, and the committee ap
pointed to select a place decided in favor
of Aiken. nm

Family Reunion at Wythe
ville.
Mr. A. M. Stone, of Abbeville, has re
turned from Wytheville, Vu., where he at
tended the family reunion of Mr. and Mrs.
A. F. Stone.
While in Wytheville Mr. Stone attended
the trial of Claude Allen, the Virginia out
law, who was convicted at Wytheville for
the shouting of the court officers.
The Southwest Virginia Enterprise, pub
lished at Wytheville, has the followirg to
say about the Stone family reunion:
"Mr. und Mrs. A. F.Stone had a family
reunion Saturday and Sunday at their hos
pitable home near Wytheville. There
were twenty-seven children, grandchil
dren and invited guests. Several of the
family will remain in Wytheville for sev
eral weeks. Those present besides Mr.

coming: into Due Wsst for commencement.
This morning the large auditorium of the
Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church
was filled with people as the Rev. Archi
brld Fairley Carr, D. D., the talented pas
tor of the First Presbyterian Church, of
Mobile, Alabama, preached the baccalau
reate sermon before the graduating class
es of the two colleges here-the seniors of
Erskine and of the Woman's College. Dr.
Carr is a magnificent preacher, distinguish
ed by earnestness, spirituality, and liter
ary ability. He is an old friend of the Rev.
R. L. Robinson, president of the Woman's
College, and it is through the Rev. Robin
son's influence that he was persuaded to
come to Due West on this occasion.
To-night the church was again crowded
to hear the baccaleaureate sermon preach
ed to the graduates of the Theological
Seminary. The minister, who had been"
chosen to do this was the Rev. Dr. Whal
ing, the well known president of the The
ological Seminary at Columbia, S. C., one
of the most able Presbyterian divines in
the South. His sermon to-night disappoint
ed none of those whose expectations had
been raised high by Dr. "Whaling's reputa
tion.

The social event of the week will be the
marriage of Mr. Lewis Levi of Manning,
S. C., to Miss Irene Rosenburg, of Abbe
ville.
This Wednesday evening, June 45th, Mr.
Louis Levi will lead to Hymen's altar one
of Abbeville's most charming and beloved
young ladies, and he is to be congratulat
ed upon winning the heart and hand of
one who will be a treasure that will bring
sunshine and happiness to any man's
home.
