The commencement exercises of Abbe YlllO 3 illgll SKUUUl ncio Opera House last Thursday evening, when lhe people of Abbeville honored them with their presence. .The|house was taxed be yond its seating capacity, many having to stand. A large number of young men and adies made up th'e graduating.class, all of whom reflected credit upon their teachers as well as themselves. Miss Lizzie Edmonds, of Abbeville, re ceived the handsome gold medal for ex celling in elocution. The exercises turoughout were highly interesting and entertaining and everyone enjoyed the eveuiug, and will long remember the pleasant (and to some) eventful occasion. Master Whit guides it with a steady hand and watchful eye and can make good time along the splendid roads. ^ Rev. R. T. Redding, spent Monday and Tuesday in the city with Mrs. T. J. Dour thart and family, and made a pleasant auto trip to Mount Carmel with friends. Misses Caridel Houseman, of Palestine Texas and Margaret Knox of MountCarm?'| have returned to their homes, after a dtr iightful stay with their aunt, Miss Delia K. Douthart. Miss Caridel Houseman, a charming young lady from Palestine, Texas, made many conquests while in our midst. The hotels were so crowded it was hard to find a place to stay. Bellevue was pretty well represented at the entertainment of the Sandover School. Mr. Willie Bell, connected with the Union Telegraph Co., at Augusta, Ga., came up yesterday a week ago and spent the day with his father, Mr. K. A. I3i?ll and family. Dr. J. I). Wilson and Mr. John McCalla went to Augusta, Ja. today a week ago, the last for examieation and treatment for nasal affection. In his report to the 1'. & B, of last week the writer in mentioning the visit of Mr. J. E. Jones of Abbeville to this place, 'seat ed him unthoughtedly in the wrong pew. It should have been stated that he is a candidate for Auditor and not for Sheriff. Hope that he lost nothing bv the mistake. Mr. J. F.
