What "M" Sees and Hears on His
Rounds About the City and Along
Route No. 3.
Once more we have celebrated the birth
day of that great and good man, George
Washington, called the "Father of his
Country." He was indeed a great man.
Think of it! A man that could lie and
wouldn't. How many George Washing
ton's have we in this day and time ? We
bless the day that such a man was born
and are proud of the record he has left.
Let us emulate his noble example, remem
ber his virtues and forget his faults.
Mrs. Tilton of Savannah is spending a
while with her daughter, Mrs. J. M. Law
ton.
Miss Alice Jones spent part of last week
with her mother and family, returning to
Rock Hill to resume her studies at Win
throp.
Major and Mrs. F. W. R. Nance spent
several days of last week at or near Lown
ddsvilie visiting friends and relatives.
Mrs. J. R. Thornton is now convalescing
and her many friends hope she will soon
be fully restored to usual health.
Miss Annie Hill came up from Lander
College and spent part of last week with
her home people, returning to her duties
the latter part of the week.
The K. of P.'s enjoyed a most delightful
oyster supper in their hall last Tuesday
evening. It is needless to say they had a
good time and socially spent a very pleas
ant evening. A number of invited guests
were also present.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Syfan of Georgia came
over 1U61 WBCK IU UHCUU WIU luuaitu oon
ices of their brother, Mr. Ed Syfan.
Miss Bessie Murray who has been spend
! ing several weeks with relatives in Atlanta
and Athens is expected home today.
The excessive and continued rains have
put the roads in the worst ttx we have
ever seen them. They are sloppy and cut
up in great holes, making travel almost
impassable.
ALL ALONG ROUTE 3.
The oyster supper under the auspices of
the ladies of Sharon church given last
Friday evening at the home of Mr. Tom
McNeill was a f?rand success, socially and
financially. Every one was in good spirits
and all enjoyed the evening to the utmost.
The receipts footed up the nice little sura
of $29.45, which was good especially when
you think of the bad roads.
Mrs. E. A. Gibert, one of the oldest and
most estimable ladies on Route 3 received
a fall last week which was quite painful.
Luckily no bones were broken, but re
sulted in a crippled hip, which has laid hei
up and is still causing her great suffering.
Her many friends hope she may soon re
cover and be up and about again.
Mr. J. R. Brown is building a pretty up
to-dato cottage for himself. It is on a
pretty situation just beyond the four mile
rock on the Sharon road.
Vnmherft nf the colored oeoole on Route
3 have a very bad typo of fever. It is
called "Can't see fever," and to effect a
cure they are rushing: the great spectacle
man, Dr. Haux, of St. Louis. His "specks"
are just now the fad on Route 3.
Mr. "Walter Wilson is at present "keep
ing batch" at the home recently vacated
by Mrs. Sherard and family just seven
miles from town. "We wish better luck for
him in the near future.
Fannfers are still hauling cotton seed to
town, and some of them are already haul
ing guano back.
The i;ifant child of Mr. C. F. Graves hns
been very ill but is now much better. This
is a new baby come with sunshine tobrigh

Hair is certainly most necessary to wo
an. Who could love and marryabeld*
.eaded woman? What charms could one
rray to offset such a disfigurement?
A woman's goal is usually love and mar
lax . Her crowning glory is her hale.
t
?he loss of her hair mars her beauty, happl
less, and success. Yet, right here In Ab
beville, there are thousands of women
?ho are neglecting or injuring their hair
o such an extent that it is only a matter
if time when it will be utterly ruined.
Many women destroy the beauty of their
lair through thoughtlessness or ignorance
if certain facts. They use curling iron*
iver-heated, or to excess, which destroys
he natural oil of the hair, causing it to
pi it, break, and come out. They do not
ibampoo their hair often enough, or too
iften. They use soaps or preparations
fhich contidningredients positively harm*
ul to the scalp and hair.
As a result of such treatment, dandruff
s created, the hair loosens, loses color,
alls out, and baldness commences, unless
>roper and prompt precautions are tazen
a time. Then again, microbes and cer
ate diseases bring about unhealthy soalp
ind hair conditions.
Almost any woman may rid herself of
iandruff and diseased scalp and hair If
ihe will but use the right remedy. We
lave that remedy, and we will positively
guarantee that it will either cure dandruff
ind baldness or it will not cost the user
inythlng.
That's a pretty broad statement, but we
vill back it and prove it with our own moo*
>y. We will return your money If you do
iot find that Bexall "93" Hair Tonic is an
sntirely satisfactory remedy that will pro
note hair growth and overcome scalp and

>n bald heads, unless all life in the hair
oots has been extinguished, the follicles
closed, and the scalp is glazed and shiny,
[t gets its name from the fact that it grew
