ACCIDENT AT DUE WEST President Robinson has a Broken Leg?Missed Way in Dark and Fell. Dun West. Nov. 22.?A very painful and distressing accident befell President E. L. Robinson, of the Woman's College, of Due West on last Saturday night. President Robinson in company with Dr. T. G. Boyce, of Atoka, Tenn., was on his way to the home of Dr. F. Y. Pressly, where he was going to attend a meeting, of the board of foreigh missions, a body to which he was elected just a week ago. Just in the rear of the Wylie Home and on , the edge of the Erskine campus, Mr, Robinson and Dr. Boyce missed their way in the dark and Mr. Robinson fell down a steep embankment. The fall ended disastrously for Mr. Bobinson. His leg was broken badly. When friends who had been called by Dr. Boyce arrived they found him in pain. Dr. J. R. Bell was hastily summoned, who made a short examination, then had Mr. Robinson carried to his home at the Woman's College. At present Mr, Robinson is resting fairly well, although he will neccessarlly be confined for some weeks. Prof. Robinson's many friends sympathize deeply with him ^ l * ? 4-U..+ kn West at two o'clook* BOTH SPEEDY AND EFFECTIVE TblB Indicates the notion of Foley Kidney Pllla as H ParHouc, Battle Creek, Mlcb., Illustrates : "1 have been afflicted wltb a severe case or kidney and bladder trouble for which I found do relief nntll I used Foley Kidney PUIr. Death of an Infant. Glascow, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hunter, aged 2 years and 7 months, passed peacefully away to her heavenly rest on the evening of November 17,1910. Her sickness was of short duration and the most faithful and loving attention was given her, but it was the Heavenly Father's will to call the spirit away to the better world. She was amiable, affectionate, and of a cheery disposition. "Words fail to express the great sorrow that has fallen upon this household in the passing away of the dear little darling. But we know that it is well with the child. Transplanted into the heavenly garden where our Father is the husbandman, how beautiful she will grow to be!?folded safely in the good Shepherd's care. And so we all reel, Little Glascow is not in the dark, cold grave, but is basking in the sunlight of the Saviour's presence. She is happy, and so much better cared for than sne could be with us weak and erring mortals?with all of our love?that we think of her happiness and safety instead of our sorrow ana loss, and with tearful eyes and faltering lips say, "Our Father doeth all things well." The funeral service was conducted by Rev. J. B: Hillhouse, and her remains were ionoweu Dy irienae anu ueigiiwre, wiiu attested their esteem and sympathy by many beautiful floral offerings. Dearest Glascow, thou has left us; Here thy loss we deeply feel, Yet 'tis God that has bereft us? "He can all our sorrows heal." Aunt. LI.U AVV/K A BIG DEAL WHICH MEANS MUCH TO LYNCHBURG AND THE ENTIRE SOUTH An agreement has been entered into whereby Craddock-Terry Company will acquire a controlling interest in the Geo. D. Witt8hoe Company, January 1st. j This deal is iu no sense "a combination in restraint of trade," but is a very important move looking to the further development of the shoe industry of Lynchburg. The Craddock-Terry Company and the Geo. D. Witt Shoe Company have made wonderful progress in shoe manufacturing, but in order to get the best results, in order to produce the best shoes at the lowest prices, shoes of each grade and kind should be manufactured in a separate factory, and by consolidating the factories of both companies under practically one management, making in each factory the grade and kind of shoes which can be produced to the best advantage, it will enable both companies to make a great improvement in the quality and a material saving in the cost of the shoes sold by both Craddock-Terry Company and the Geo. D. Witt Shoe Company, and will naturally increase the rapidly growing demand for Lynchburg made shoes. Craddock-Terry Company have long enjoyed the reputation of being the largest manufacturers of shoes in the South, but this deal puts them in a class with the largest manufacturers in their line in the world, and it makes -Lynchburg a big lactor in the world's commerce, so far as shoes are concerned. *> While Geo. D. Witt retires from the active management of the business of which he is now president, he will leai'e his money in this business in the shape of preferred stock, and the Geo. D. Witt Shoe Company will continue, as heretofore, a corporation separate and distinct from CraddockTerry Company, retaining most of the men who are now at the head of the various departments, and practically all of the travelling men. under the general supervision of T. M. Terry, as President. Under this new deal, all of the shoe factories of Lynchburg (except one) will be under practically the same management, which meansthat more shoes will be manufactured in Lynchburg next year than ever before; in fact, Craddock-Terry Company alone will manufacture more shoes than all of their Southern competitors combined, and Lynchburg will stand in a class by herif iirri _ 01 * ? sen, as xne onoe mantei ui uie ouuvu, and one of the greatest shoe markets of the world. This announcement will be of great interest to the shoe trade all over the United States, as both of these progressive manufacturers enjoyed a patronage in almost every State in the Union, having enlarged the territory in which they operate year by year, until now Lynchburg made shoes find & ready market in the largest cities of the South, East, North and West.
