Do formers eat the proper ;s tort of food? The farmer of today bays a much larger proportion of the food that goes on the table than he did ten years ago. It's a good thing that this is so because he hai a great variety to select from. He should, however, use great care ia selecting for the best results in health and strength. The widespread tendency in the cK,' to increase the amount of Quaker Oats eaten is due very largely to the recent demonstrations dv scientific men that the Onaker Oats ted man is the man with^greatest physical endurance and greatest mental vigor. CURES THE LUNGS. ' v ! ? A Yankee Visitor at Abeeviil* GreenviJlo News, Different cities have different claims for publicity but there is none so good or convincing as a well appearing city with substantial buildings and a spirit of unrest amongst the business men that bodes toward a better community. When the writer saw Abbeville for the first time he was very aggreeably surprised. His first impression was the cleanliness and a well ordered city. But the surprise that lasted ? ~ ~ A I. ~ it nnH Wets bnu niie municipal uuuuiu^ uuu court house. And in the municipal building was a theatre that will put to shame the so-called opera houses and theatres in the average city. And the fine hotel, the Eureka was another stunner. The merchants keep their stocks well arranged, their windows well washed and the spirit of cleanliness prevails everywhere. And the local police officers are not the usual slouchy kind that you see hanging around the corner grocery and with a slovenly uniform. The chief looks more like a general in the army than a city officer. To select a city of about 7,000 to live in and a live place to engage in business in the State of South Carolina an investigator would' think pretty seriously of Abbeville. One of the aggressive and representative business men of the city is Mr. J. C. Ellis. There is no man more enthusiastic about the town than he Is. A community is built up not by the talk of the people who live in it and who slink away when it comes to action but by the men like Mr. Ellis who como to the front and in a practical way help to solve the problems that confront the town. Baseball seems to be the topic of conversation now and there is strong talk of a good local team. Mr. C. B. Wilson is an ardent fan and follows all the league scores closely. Another fan is C. Lamar Bichey. In thfe municipal building are located the principal law offices of the city a ad handsome offices on the ground floor t,re occupied by Mr. J. Frank Cllnkscales and W,. P. Greene. Other attractive offices are oh the upper floors. The building is light and airy and the offices very pleasant. Mr.T. G. White has a fine stock and his store located near the post office^ He is a great admirer of the Greenville News. Another fan following baseball closely is Mr. W. L. Power. He is a familiar and aggressive man in Cheatham's store and the place is attractive and well conducted. 0. H. Bosdell is rated as an enthusiastic fan also. Mr. W. D. Barksdale has a line location near the postofflce and a busy store at any time of the day. A busy store with shoppers during the day is that of Philson and Henry. Both these gentlemen are right in the front for a bigger and better boosted Abbeville. Among others interested in boosting the town are T. A. Able, W. A. Harris, L. W ' Kellar and Bros., G. E. Putman, L. A. Moon, J. E. McDavid, G. P. McKay and Herbert G. Smith. One of the typical stores in the city is that of Mr, W. H. Calvert. The store of C. A. Milford and Co., Is one of the finest fitted of places in the state and the young men in charge of the different departments are right up to date. Start speaking to any Abbeville man and you will find an Abbeville booster. And they have good cause to boost. It pays to advertise and you can also add to that saying arid it fits Aboeville that it pays to advertiae especially if you can deliver the goods. When the interurbon trolley system strikes ' the town there will be a healthy boom and everybody in town is anxious for it to come. The Greenville News is a very popular | paper in Abbeville as attested by the largo subscription list and its constantly growing in popularity. 8 How to Cure Rheumatism It is ail Internal Disease and Requires an Internal Remedy. The cause of Rheumatism and kindred diseases is an excess of uric acid in the blood. To cure this terrible disease this add must be expelled and the system so regulated that no moro acid will be formed ir. excessive quantities. Rheumatism is an internal disease and requires an internal remedy. Rubbing with Oils and Liniment will not cure, affords only temporary relief at best, causes you to delay the proper treatment, allows the malady to get a lirmer hold on you. Liniments ma,y ease the pain, but they will no more cure Rheumatism than paint will change the fibre of rotten wood. Science has at last discovered a perfect I | and complete cure, which is called "Rheumacide." Tested in hundreds of crises, it has effected the most marvelous cures; we believe it will cure you. Rheumaclde "gets at the joints from the inside," sweeps the poisons out of the system, tones up the stomach, regulates the liver and kidneys and makes you well all over, Rheumaclde "strikes the root of the disease and removes its cause." Dr. Link and Mr. William Derracott, all of WiUington, attended the funeral exercises last Wednesday at the Calhoun grave yard on the white place on the occasion of the interment of Miss Eliza Calhoun who died in Washington, D. C. on May 9th. Miss Calhoun was a widely known and very popular bnlle in this section some sixty years ago, and is said to have been a woman of many attractions. In the old days many men of wealth and position are said to have paid court to her and since her death older citizens have had no little to say in regard to her fine and aristocratic appearance. Sevaral days ago a party of about 18 persons, several form Willington, went to the Tremble Shoals on Little River and spent a few days fishing; among those from Wiilincrton were Messrs A.
