Y., no : more foot ball will be played by the West Point eleven this year- This statement was made by Col. Hugh L. Scott, superin- i tendent of the United States Military | Aeademy, after a consultation with the j athletic authorities of the Academy on the | death of young Byrne, who died as a result of Injuries sustained in a game with; Harvard. We are all still barbarious, we like to see a do.,' fight, we are not energy to seeing ; men punch o..e another, and as Dr John Brown tells us, any intense enegy in action J is most interesting fo the average man, | heoce, a foot ball game, where every ' i erve and muscle of the players is tense i with excitement and energy is a popular sport. It is doubtfdl whether we will ever be civilized out of this teudency, this interest is semi barLarous things. We all like it, we can't help it and there Is no reason tote ashamed of it. Something aught to be clone, liowever, to lessen the fataleties in this innocent foot bait game. Some regulations could be made by which the danger would be reduced to a minimum and yet the spirit of the sport kept intact. As for the harm that foot ball has done we know little, but we are ready to venture the assertion that the game has done mors gOod by building up weak constitutions, changing lank and flabby boys into muscolar men; in teaching boys how to strive for a goal, or take defeat, than all! the evil brought about through the instru- i mentality of the game. Keep foot ball but purge it of its dan- j gerous ieaiures. The mosi uncanny, unbelievable thing about college foot ball is the deliberate aim of one side to cripple some plaver on the other side. To do this they resort to unfair means. Here lies the harm in foot ball if there lie.any harm in it. Many small colleges ur?> predisposed to j shut out the game, and should the Universities lead the way, foot ball would soon be a relic of the past. OSENBERG MER A PUBLIC BENEFIT T| Abbeville People Greatly Interested in the Generous Offer of the C. A. Mil- nT ford & Co. u? The people have already demonstrated that they would rather trust a man who is naturally honest than one who is honest only because he had to bo. The C. A. Milford & Co. have a firmly established reputation for square dealing and sterling honesty. "When they told the people that Rexall Remedies>are the purest rnv and most dependable medicines that it is possible for modern science to produce, r and that they would tell the public what each one of these 300 or more remedies 1 contained, and that they sold Rexall Remedies on their personal guarantee that ( they would give entire satisfaction or they would not cost the user a single cent, they in were believed. -I- r Ever since this announcement the C. A. '"8 Milford & Co. store has been largely pat- V'"' rohized by people buving Rexall Remedies, tvHX(' all of which proves that this store has thej ber confidence or the people and that honesty oui is *.he best policy. " a There is no "cure-all" among the Rexall P?'< Remedies. There are different and sepa- ? rate medicines, each one devised for a cer- p ^c tain human ailmont or a class of ailments not closely allied. For instance Rexall Dvs Ri pepsia Tablets are recommended for the i positive relief of stomach irritation, indi- i gestion, flatulency and dyspepsia. They f are rich in Bismuth-Subnitrate, Pepsin and 1 Carminatives. They are prepared by spe cial processes which perfect and enhance the great remedial value of these well- bx" known medicinal agents. This remedy sells for 25. cents, 50 cents, and $1.00 per package. Every one suffering from stomach disorder should try Rexall Dyspepsia Tablets, inasmuch as they cost nothing if they do not satisfy. Remember, the C. A. Milford & Co. store Is the only store in Abbeville where these j remedies may be obtained, and every one in need of medicine is urged to investigate and take advantage of the frank and generous manner in which they are sold.
