uew drugs wbicu are widely used to produce
insensibility to pain," says the warning, and
proprietory beadacbe medicines are very apt
to contain one or more of them. X n ey tend
to deprees tbe heart and the nerves and may
lead to the lormatlon of a drug habit. Tbli
Is proved by reports from lour hundred physicians,
made from Inquiries from tbe United
States department of agriculture. These physicians
state that lrom 1881 to 1907 tbey have
known twenty-eight deaths resulting from
the use 01 one or another of these three drugs
besides 814 cases ol poisoning and 136 casea
