Buffalo Claimed the State Championship, ,
but it took only two games to show
their inferiority to Abbeville.
The Buffalo team looked like the
champion*) that they claimed to be as
they marched through the square od
Wednesday afternoon, and what
few knockers were left proclaimed with
one accord, "Here is where Abbeville
gets beat; sure!" And even tbe most
loyal fan admitted that it was a tougb
proposition.
But, tbe Jones Brothers were in tbe
box and the team was behind them,
and if you will pardon a slang but
very exspressive exspression, they
made Buffalo look like thirty cents.
Terrell Jones pitched the first day,
and gave up his usual number of bits,
two, while be made seven batters do
the Casey stunt. Abbeville bit Cline
freely, getting a total of twelve bits
aod elgnt scores. Bill Perin distinguished
himself getting a three-bagger
and a single. Watson and Ernest
McCarter got two hits apiece.
In the second game things were different.
It was a pretty game, all the
way through but the fourth inning
looked prettiest to the Abbeville fans.
Buffalo made their only run in the
second inning on a wild pitch by Boy
Jones, who was pitching, and a hit.
The break for Abbeville came in
the fourth. Up^to and after this inning
Gardin, Buffalo's south-paw, bad
things going bis way. He had struck
out six men in the second and third
inning, and he wore a smile that was
a pretty good imitation of the neverwear-off
kind, McCarter, first up in
the fourth, bunted, beat it out and
stole second. Young struck out but
Terrell Jones singled to right and
McCarter scored. Jones stole second
while Perrin was striking out and
scored on Watson's single to centre.
At this ^juncture there .was smile on .
Gardin's face. But Charlie Carrol was

each County. Each Scholarship is
worth $100 irt money and $18 matriculation
or "term" fee.
