Occasion.

On Wednesday evening, the 16th December,
1908, at the bride's home 'n Mount Carmel
Miss Frances Morrah was married to Mr. Calhoun
Harris ol this city. The wedding was o]
unusual interest to the people of the state od
accouutof the prominence of the (families ol
both tbe bride and groom, and was remarkable
alike for the number and distinction ol
tbe guests who attended, the magnlfioence ol
the gowns of tbe ladles, tbe decorations of tbe
home and the perfection of tho arrangements.
Tbe lights which shone from a hundred
windows of the great house upon Its h-ill and
from the myriads ol Japanese lanternB upon
tbe grounds, reflected to all tbe town and
country round Bbout the cheer and Joy of the
household and Its guests In so happy a union
or thote they loved. The spirit of approaching
Christmas seemed to be .In tbe air to
heighten the gladness of the sweet, If solemn
occasion.
The approach to tbe bouse, the piazzas and
tbe wholo bouse were brilliantly illuminated
and decorated with the green and red of
Christmas, tbe parlor and dining room being
festooned In Southern smllaz and white. In
the east parlor a wedding bell of white chrysanthemums
was suspended and the dining
rooms wera draped with great white ribbons.

Mr. Harris is a rising and popular yonng
man- He is seoretary and assistant treasurer

bas been since their organization. He Is extremely

of horses and top boggles was seen passing

places. Robert WHrod, a man about town
whose voice is often herd above din and bustle
of the town said: "I always knew Cosby's
hors.es would run, but I didn't know that
they would fly." The horses were at a full
run for home and went as straight hb horse
flesh could carry them to their haven of rest
and the barn whare awaited them full feed
troughs ;wbere half doten hungry chickens

right until nearly home, when a tree, unlike
tne people on the public square, refused to
give the right of way to Cosby's team. For
that reason these horses hitched their team
