As Is usual at this time of the year, there Is * great cry about the short cotton crop. We believe It Is always short In the tall when tore accounts come due. Mr. Harden, the manager, believes that no cotton of tbls year's crop will be ginned after Christmas. Mr. Longaaya that be has glnnetf 1,900 bales to date, which Is in exce?B of the amount which be ginned last year ap to this date. He thinksbe will gin 100 bales additional before closing down his ginnery. Mr. 'Maglll estimates that the crop this year la about twenty-five per cent leaa than It waa last year. ' Cotton buyers on the street estimate the shortage this year at about :welve per cent. This company was organized at Greenwood, then Abbeville county, bdci adopted the name Secession Guards. The first enrollment for one year was about one hundred men, Including officers. The following were elected to fill the places of commissioned of floors: Captain, Wm. W. Perryman ; 1st Lieutenant, James W. Foosbe; 2nd. John T. Parks; Wm. Appleton elected Lieutenant and transferred to oommlBsary department; 3rd, John J. Adams: Wm, A. LI m beck er was < elected Lieutenant some time during the year < In place ot J. T. Parks, resigned.
