tbe forenoon belbg cloudy and threatening
rain: tbe snn came out In tbeafternoon When
all was bright and oheerlnl.
Many tur&sys made tbelr last "strut", and
gave tbelr last gobble and yielded up their
lives as a sacrifice to many lovers of good
. eating: Of conrse Pumpkin and Mince pies
together wtlb tbe usual Thanksgiving dishes
were In order, and frlenda and neighbors
rejoiced together.
Union servloes were held In Trinity Church
and were well attended.
We don't think tbe partridges and rabbits
were on ;tbe "rush" aa on former occasions
as we saw no huntsman who feald be bad
much luck so that even these birds and rabbits
bad a partial cause for thankfulness.
The day off was eDjoyed by the carriers.
Our leacbers and MCbolars all had a big
holiday. Irom Thursday untlll Monday: we
all now look forward to Christmas which
will be here very soon, even before we are
ready for it.
Tbe next reBt for tbe carriers will be New
Years Day.
Oar city gates are thrown wide open today
to the Daughters of tbe Confederacy to wbom
our people extend a hearty welcome, and
