Brooks Brookfl aboevllle, a C., Jan. 1.1908 REGISTRATION The attention of the public is called 3 the Act of the recent Legislature, pproved the 24th day of February, 908, which reads as follows : lX Act to Provide for the Re-Enrollment and Registration of the Qunlfied Electors of this State During the Year 1908, and to Provide Compensation for the Supervisors of Registration. Section 1. Be it enacted by the Genral Assembly of the State of South larolina, That the Supervisors of Regitration in each County of the State re required to re-enroll all the qualied electors in this State during the ear 1908. Sec. 2. That the same time the said upervisors shall register all persons 'ho may make application therefor nd who may be entitled tnereio. Sec. 3. That for the purpose of uch enrollment and registration the aid Supervisor shall keep the hooks of egistration open at the several county eatfl every day (Sundays excepted), etween the hours of nine a. m. and ix p. m., during the months of July nd August, 1908; and in addition hereto, they shall attend, during the ionth of September, 1908, at least one ay in each township, in their respecive Counties, of which at least ten ay's notice shall he given by adverisement in a newspaper published in he Co?nty ; and in Counties contain3g fifty thousand inhabitants they hall attend in each city, town, or inustrial community, containing three undred or more inhabitants, at least ne day, upon similar notice : Proided, That the provisions of this Seo' I? 1.. t 11_ IUU bliuil ULll^ ttppiy t ? 11Jc Iv-cuiuir jentand registration for the year 1908. Sec. 4. That for the purpose of aaid e-enrollmeut the Secretary of State ball furnish the Supervisors of Itegisration with all the necessary boobs, nd the sum of five hundred dollars ball be appropriated for pupplying aid books. Sec. 5. That fche Supervisors of Regitration shall each receive for their jrvices, during the year 1908, the sum f two hundred dollarn, to be paid by tie State quarterly, as other State ofcers are paid: except in the Counties f Anderson, Charleston, Greenville, umter, Orangeburg, Richland, where ' ley shall each receive two hundred nd fifty dollars for the year 1908: Proided, That in Spartanburg County jey sbull receive this year three hunred dollars, to be paid as above proided; that, after the year 1908, the upervisors of Registration ehall each iceive fifty dollars per anuum in oil ears and one hundred dollars in genral election years: except in the t>ove named Counties, where they jail each receive seventy-live dollars er annum in otf' years, and in general ectiou years they t-hall receive two undred dollars each per annum, inuding the County of Spartanburg.
