LOWNDESVILLE.
Lowndesvllle, S. C., July 6th, l'JOS.
Mr. E. F. Latimer returned the first ot last
week Irom Moore's, 8. C., where he went the
week before, and attended the wedding festivities
of Mr. D. W. MoLain and Miss C B.
Cain. He had the honor of acting as best
man.
Miss Leila Moseley went to Abbeville Monday
and has since been among friends in that
place.
Mrs. Ira Bell and little babe of Great Falls,
8. C., came to this place Tuesday and have
since been at the home of Mr. B. A. Bell, the
father-in-law ol the flrst.
Magistrate J. G. Huckabee was called to
Anderson on business Wednesday.
Mr. T. M. Miller, of Abbeville, has been the
guest of Mr. T. C. Llddeil for the past few
days.
^ Mr. John Epps, ot Newberry, has been with
his brother, Mr. 8. F. Epps and family lor the
past few days.
Prof. J. F. Harper who bas had charge of a
flourishing school at Eastover, S. C., and bat*
been re-elected to the same position for another
year, spent a day or two In this place,
bis former home, among friends the. first of
}&8t W66k.
Mlssei El Louise Harper and Elinor Keys
went to Elberton the first of last week and
spent several days among relatives.
Miss Ella Floyd was at Starr for a day or
two last week.
Mr. John M. Gambrell, of Abbeville, candidate
for County Treasurer, was In this section
In the Interest of his candidacy last

Mr. Ereklne Blake, of A bbevllle, was at the
home of his kinsman, Mr. H. A. Tennent,
Wednecday and Thursday.
Miss Pet Hawthorn, of Latimer, was the
gnest of Mr. J. M. Huckabee last Wednesday.
Dr. J. B. Moeeley went to Greenville Tue day,
called there by a phone message, saying
that his sister, Mrs. M. M. White, relict of the
late Capt. W. R. White, was dead.
The above was Indeed sad news to many
relatives and friends In and around this
plaoe. Mrs. White was a native of this section,
having been born In The Fork near
Mo8eley'B Ferry, on the Savannah River,
where she spent the earlier years of ber
life, when she, with ber father. Mr. John M.
Moeeley and family, moved to this place.
In 1858 she was united In marriage to Capt
W. R. White, by whom she became the mother
of five daughter*, four of whom, Mrs.
CopelaDd of Laurens, Mrs. Dr. Wright and
Mrs. R. Y. Hellams of Greenville, and Mrs.
W. R. Dillingham of Spartanburg, are still
living. Quite early In life she gave her heart
to God and began his servloe by giving ber
band to the Methodist church which she
faithfully served, living up to all of its requirements.
An amiable and sweet disposition,
aided by a Christian life, fitted ber to

cast, wherever the business interests of her
husband called them and at the same time
the aame good Qualities of mind and heart,
enabled ber to fill to tbe full all of the relations
of life, daughter, sister, wife, mother,
frleDd.
Comparatively but few were more highly
favored as to personal appearaooe, but tbe
oblef magnet which drew to ber all whom
she met was ber geniality, ber smile and
kind word, and ber desire to promote tbe
happiness of others, whlcb was so vividly
portrayed In her every pet. Tbe vexations of
life failed utterly to ruffl* ber feelings. The
writer with an oft repeated companionship

paw In ber tbe least Indication of aDger, or a
murmuring spirit.
She was a noble Christian woman, and will
be greatly missed. Her active life-work was
ended, but a few short months ago, when ber
physical system gave way and she became
helpless, and since then ber sons-in-law and
tbelr families in one united effort endeavored
to return some of the kindness wbicb bad
been so freely given them by ber. Her happy
lite which was so worth tbe living could
not but have proved a benediction to all who
telt Its Influence, and leaves to tbe specially
saddened ones an assurance of a blissful Immortality
for tbe loved and lost. Troupe.
