A Song of Affalta.
What makes the landscape look so fair,
What blossoms bright perfume the air,
What plant repays the farmers toll, ,
And will enrloh the wornout soil? I

What grows In loam and clay and sand,
What lifts tbe mortgage off the land,
What crop is out six times a year,
And no foul weeds in It appear?
Alfalfa.
What makes tbe swine so healthy feel,
And never raise a hungry squeal,
That wholesome Too i that never falls'
To put three ourli Into their tails? f
Alfalfa.
What makes all other stook look nice,
And brings the highest market price,
What fills tbe milk pall, feeds tbe calf,
And makes the old cow almoBt laugb?
Alfalfa.
What make* the poultry geod as gold, J
When eggs are at a big price sold,
What makes tbe happy colts all play,
While mothers graze throughout the day?
