"We are simply delighted with what we have seen In Anderson. We cmue here because we heard that Anderson led In the civic spirit of tbe state, and we were not misinformed," said Mrs. M. T. Coleman, chairman of the fountain" com mi tee of the Civic association of Abbevllfe, who with Miss M. L smith, president of the association, Mrs. J. C. Ellis and Mrs. J. F. Barnwell, came to loos Anderson over. They arrived In the city at 7 o'clock yesterday afternoon and departed lor their homes this afternoon. "Our civic association was organized In March. Miss Smith Is president. At present *= ? <= < >?ino infix UD the Dark and grounds surroundlny the new court hou*> and city ball building*. We are going to erect a handsome fountain?something similar to the Anderson memorial fouDtain erected here by ihe civic association. We got a good look at the fountain this morning, and we are so well pleased with it that it is now our intention to place our order with Mr. Wlgington of the Anderson Foundry and Machine company, who built the Anderson fountain. The Abbeville city council la going to co operate with us In all of oar undertakings. It has agreed to meet us half way on everything. The city will pay half the cost of the fountalu and the civic association will pay the balance. We have not exactly decided on what priced fountain we want, but tt will be very much like the one here. It will not be a memorial fountain, however. We are greatly Impressed with what we have seen here, and we hope to have Abbeville In Anderson's class along this line before a very great while ban elapsed. "We have divided up the civic work In Abbeville Into 11 districts. Eaeb district has a manager, and these managers go around eucouraglng the work among the residents ol their respective districts. Even the young boys and girls have entered into the spirit ol the association and everybody In Abbeville Is talking and working civic improvements. "It 1r our desire to get our PJaza and parka beautified and in good shape belore the public buildings are completed, which Is not veiv long now. "The Civic association Is offering prizes for the best civic work In the ctty, and a great many of our people are competing. "We are going back to Abbeville this afternoon well repaid lor our visit. We hope thai Mrs. Rulus Fant, the president here, will <v>mn tn Abbeville soon and will honor us with one of her talks on civic improvements. Wben the hour arrived, the bride and groom, with two attending cooples,.presented themselves before tbe bride's pastor, Mr. Gregg, who awaited them in tbe ball, arid there convenanted together In marriage. After tbe ceremoDy, a delightful course of refreshments, consisting of cream and several varieties of cake was served the guests. REGISTRATION The attention of the public is called to the Act of the receut LegiHlature, approved the 24lh day of February, 19(i8, which reads as follows : An Act to Provide for the Re-Enrollment and Registration of the Qualfied Electors of this State During the Year 1908, and to Provide Com. pepsation for the Supervisors o RegistrationSection 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Soutb [Carolina, That th? Supervisors of Registration in each County of the State are required to re-enroll all the qualified electors in this State during the year 1908. Sec. 2. That the same time the said Supervisors shall register all persons who may make application therefoi and who may be entitled thereto. Sec. 3. That for the purpose ol such enrollment and registration the said Supervisor shall keep the books ol registration open at the several county reatn every day (Sundays excepted), between the hours of nine a. m. and six p. m., during the months of Julj and August, 190S; and in additiou thereto, they shall attend, during the month of September, 1908, at least one day in each township, in their respective Counties, of which at least tec day's notice shall be given by advertisement in a newspaper published in the County ; aud in Counties containing fifty thousand inhabitants the^ shall attend in each city, town, or industrial community, containing three hundred or more inhabitants, at leasi one day, upmi similar notice : Provided, Tnat the provisions of this Section shall only apply to the re-enrollmentand registration for the year 1908, Sec. 4.
