The reports Irom pastor, stewards and Suuday School superintendent showed everything working well so far and all looking forward to a fruitful year in church work. Let each member take hold and begin with the New Year to do more tnan they have In the past and ull will work out well In the end. The many friends and scholars of Mr. W. R. Bradley are glad to see him home again and hope he is fully restored to bis usual health. Mr. J. M. Harden hits tbe Lien Law a heavy blow in last week's Issue of the Press and Banner, and we really believe if II was left to him ne would kill It as dead as Hector. There is a fine opening In Abbevll le for a first olass bakery, think of it! About 5,000 Inhabitants who eat bread and no bakery, isn't it alarming, our money going off to build up adjutant towns and cities when it Bbould be kept at home. That's tbe way to build up a city, tsn't 11; that is "over tbe left." Ti.e new Court House and City Hall are looming up, and with their huge granite oolumns are already making an imposing sight to the wide-awake and up-to-date citizens who win look up these buildings when finished with great Interest and pride as being ornaments to our old historic city, ted buildings that In tbe beauty of modern architecture will be second 10 none In tbe State. Editor Press and Banner, 1 beg to Bay tbat I appreciate most heartily tbe muny compliments tbat 1 bave received, both personally and by letters from different parts of the County on my communication In your valuable paper against tbe repeal ol tbe lien law. 1 beg to say tbat I have met with a great many of tbe good, common working people wbo live from six to eight miles of Lowndesvllle, and the lien Jaw was fully discussed, and I bave not found but two men of the good working class of white men, that Is in favor of its repeal. They also Insisted that I keep up tbe light to tbe last dltcb against the repeal of tbe law. It seems that bis demand for tbe repeal ol the lien law is oomlng from the wealthy farmeruofthe County, or. In other words some office seekers from the Farmers Union, with a pledge tbat if tbe Legislature will re-, peal the law, they can better .control labor. It would be interesting to know how any man can control something be has not got. Who are tbe laborers of thix great country ol ou)k? Tbe poor, honest white man and the negr?. Is it possible tbat those wbo are wanting tbe Hen law repealed do not know tbat tbe poor white man has always been free, and tbat tbe negro has been tree since Emancfpatlon? Where, then, is tbe labor to control? Tbey claim that their demand /or the repeal of the Hen law is a blow at the ncgro entirely, but tbat Is a mistake. It la a blow at tbe poor, working white man as well. Whj? Because there 1b no legislative body tbatoan make anorganlolaw that applies to the negro, but what applies to the poor white mnD with equal force. Ilsbou'd be tbe greatest oredlt of all legislative bodies tbat they enaot no ladt or repeal o law that will be against tbe poor working man of tbe country, for lbegre&l?>od knows tbat If there Isloyalty or patriotism found In tbe human breast, it can be found In theU?art throbs of the man wbo tolls lor bis daily ? ?
