ault to me, to grant them Letters of Administration
of the Estate and effects ol L. W.
White, Jr., late of Abbeville County, deceas?d.
These are therefore, to cite and admonish
all and singular the kindred and creditors of
the said L. W. White, Jr., deceased, that they
be and appear before me, In the Court of Probate,
to be held' at Abbeville C. H., on Tbors.

vllle said 8tate and County, tbe 3rd day of
July, 1907, before M. E. Holllngswortb, AotIng
Co-oner for said County, npon view of tbe
body of Banks Seymore tben and there being
dead, by tbe oatbi of Henry White, Foreman,
James Flndly, James Hughes, Pal Blancbett,
William Perry, John Vaughn, John Bluford,
Walter Scott, C. E. Pruitt, John Henderson,
T. M. Horton, Jim Ervln. being a lawful Jury
of inquest, who being charged and sworn to
Inquire for tbe State of South Carolina, when
and by what means the said Banks Seymore
came to his death. Upon their oaths do say
that fbe said banks Seymore came to bis
death by a lick in tbe bead with an Iron
weight, said weight being in tbe hands of
Clayton 8mltb. And so tbe Jurors, upon
ibelr oatbs aforesaid, do say tbe aforesaid
Banks Seymore in manner and form came to
his deatb. Tbat Clayton Smith aforesaid
then and there did lake tbe life of said Seymore,
in form and manner aforesaid.
Given under our hands and seal this 3rd
day ot August, 1907.

Coroner.
Dr. C. C. Gambrell, being duly sworn, says;
I examined tbe dead body of Banks Beymore
and found tbat be came to bis death
from a wound In side of sknll. Bald wound
penetrating tbe brain, causing instant deatb.
1 did not find any other marks or violence.
Tbe above wound was made with a blunt
pointed Instrument.

Robert Langly, being duly sworn, says:
On tbe 2nd day of Angust, 1907, about Ave
o'clock In tbe evening. Clay Smith oame to
wbere I was, I was In tbe spinning room In
tbe mill, saw Clayton 8mltb take an iron
weight out of bis pocket. He was standing
near Banks Beymore the deo'd. They were
saying something, but on acoount ot U>e ,
noise In tbe mill, could not understand what '
It was. Whea Smith took the weight from J
bis pocket X told him not to bother Eanks. as
Banks was not bothering bin, ] went on
back to my word and did not see any more.

Arthur Wilson, sworn, says:
I was In the spinning room yesterday evening,
and beard someone say tbey were fighting.
Went over there and saw Clayton
Smith coming down to wbere Banks Seymore
was and passed blm. He then tnrned
around and got Ibe iron out of bis pocket and
struck Seymore upon the head with it.
Smith stood a short while and walked off.
Seymore fell to the floor when atrook. ,

Watson White, aworn. Bays:
J saw the Smith boy come up thar* to get
some water, and he went back to where Beymore
was and passed him by a Utile piece,
and got the Iron out of his pocket. The iron
bad a string tied to it and be wrapped it
round his fcaad and airuok the Seymore boy
upon th? left side of the bead. Seymore fell t
to the floor.

W hen Smith came down my alley he
curBed.and said be Intended knocking out
the brains of the first boy that came In front
of blm. Smith swept up two more alleys before
be got to wbere Seymore was. I did not
hear anything said, but saw blm strike Seymore
with a piece of Iron. It was an iron <
weight. A string was tied to It, and be
wrapped it round bis band and struck blm on

by the Jury; they thinking her competent
to testify.
J. M. James, being dnly sworn, says:
About twenty five minutes before the fatal ,
flgbt I beard a fuss on the other aide of the
frame and went around there. Both the
Smith and Seymore boys had slats off of the
frame, lighting:. I did what I could to nart
them. After parting them I went on with
my work. Tnere was at least one lick each.
Twenty five minutes later 1 beard the Beymore
boy hollering and went to where he
waa He was kloklng, Smith was going down
the alley as I went to where Seym ore waa.
