The loss of the buildlbg la estimates at
910.00J. Tbe value of tbe furniture and other
things which were destroyed Is unknown.
/ Tbe furniture in five out of eight rooms in
tbe seooDd story was saved. All tbe furniture
or other goods In tbe iblrd story were
destroyed, as were nearly all tbe goods In tbe
cook room and the dining hall. .
Tbe property Is owned by tbe Northern
Presbyterians, whose Board of Fretdmena

back to give place to tbe Taggart Bouse.
Tbe Dendy Corner bas been swept Off. and
new and elegant structures are there to be
found.
The farmers warehouse bad not been
thought of.
Abbeville now has tbe pattern hotel for all
tbe State.
Main 8treet up town bas cbanged and a
whole lot of nice houses stand where vacant
space kept the earth together.
The street leading from the Baptist cburcb
bas lots of nice bouses on either side. When
Mr. Buckabee left Abbeville the" whole hlllBide
was valued at 850.
The oil mill and our banks bad not then
been t bought of.
In 1876 we bad no telegraphs, no telephones,
no electric lights, no water works, no sewerage,
no dlppeneary, but a number of bars.
We would love to tell you a whole heap
about our old army friend, bat we did not

him. He seems to be as good a man as be
was In 1876. His features are much tbe same,
and be carries bis years well. His beard Is
longer and whiter than It was in 1876.
