Abbeville and Edgrfleld by TrOlley.
I As trolley lines are being constructed In al'
parts of tbe State bringing Country and
town In closer relationship commercially
and socially, Is It not about time for Abbeville
to couple itself up wilb some of Its remote
sections.'
For years some kind ot railway bas been
contemplated from Edgefield to Abbeville.
These counties which touch each other art
Id point of time, farther apart than Abbeville
and Washington City. No one but a
graduate Id geography can tell bow to reach
Edgefield .by rail from Abbeville without the
aid of two modern mapB.
The intervening section between Abbeville
and Edgefield 1b peopled by thrlfly larmers,
and the exception of the C. & W. C Rail waj
crossing the aectlon about midway between
ibe points, It is without railway accommodations.
A trol.'ey line going south from
Abbeville, passing through the thrifty
Bellevlew Pectlon and to McCormlcfe, woulc
farther develop one of the best sections oi
_ of this County and would be beniflclal alike
to the people along the line and to Abbeville.
McCormlck Is one of the most thriving
towns in the np Country. Her people are
friendly lo the old uouoiy, ana Qououem >>
la tbelr desire to remain as part of tbe County,
bat tbey may reasonably be pardoned fo>
not wishing to go to tbe otber aide of tb?
earth in order to reaoh tbeir county seat.
Let ua ooaple tbe sections together and extend
tbe line on to Edgefield. There is perhaps
not a section of country In the State
where persona living along tbe route are
better able to aid In the work by subscription
and taxation. Then too this would let
aome light Into the back door of Tillman'*
. land.

The Anderson Intelligencer.
All the preaa of the State seem now to be
throwing banquets at that good paper, the
Anderson Intelligencer. That best of men,
[ Mr. C. C. Langs ton, some time ago sold bit
Interest In that paper to Mr. V. B. Cheshire,
and he with the veteran J. F. CUnkacales,
* who has so long been at th e head of tbe paper,
have rattled tbelr bonea about tbe office and
I transformed tbe paper ao that It does not
look like ltaelf. Tbe owners have always
V been good men, and the paper has been at tbe
fi r' top of tbe list. Tbe paper Is now an elgbl
' oaee paper. Mr. Langston.tbe retliingown
Ier was lor many years tbe efficient and popular
Secretary of tbe State Press Association.
All the press are sorry that Mr. LangstoD
quits. He would not have been excused ai
' all If be had not given place to so good a man
a Mr. Cheshire. To all we extend wishes lor
, tbeir good health and good spirits, tbe best

Its Beat Advertisement.
ETbe Industrial Edition of tbe Spartanburg

along all tbe lines. It would be a credit to
any printing offloe, and it Is tbe best advertisement
that could be bad of the progressive

. ' manufacturing centre. Tbe record of Spartanburg's
success should be an inspiration to
[ tbe people of otber towns.
