Mr*. J. C. Klugb entertained a party of
T some sixteen ladles, nl luncheon, Wednesday
Feb. 28.
Tbe hostess received In a dress of blaok
silk, and was assisted by her mother Mrs. J.
E. Bradley, similarly dressed.
Guests were seated at luncbeon at 2:00
o'clock and remained for an hour or more
disposing of tbe sumptuous repast which
was served In eight courses.
A large cut glass bowl Allied with Jonquils
and others flowerB graced tbe oenter of tbe
table while u ball of tbe same flowers, was
uspended by a piece of white sutln ribbon
over tbe centerpiece. To each place a card
and Jonquil was attached by a small yellow
ribbon, neat and graceful in effect. Tbe table
waa laid with drawn work plecee, over yellow,
and otherwise adorned by white and
yellow oandles. On each end of the table was
plaotd a tall cut glass vase filled with Jonquils.
.
Tbe luncheon was tborongbly eDjoyed.
The dignified, yet genial hostess imparled a
spirit of welcome and good cheer which dispelled
entirely the feeling of stiffness sometimes
lnoldent to suob occasions.
Judge and Mrs. Klugb have one of tbe
most desirable homes in Abbeville. It is
situated tvav from the rush of bun lnens. and
yet l? Jd easy (oucb with all the cliy advantages.
Tbe bouse Is set down, as It were on
a spot overlooking a beautiful natural park
of original forest, through wblcb a meander,
log stream finds Its way by a tortuous route,
over rocky falls and around scores of projecting
points. Tbe stream makes practically
h semicircle about tbe bouse. This park
wblob Judge Xlugb kindly opened to tbe
publlo bas a place In tbe sweetest recollections
of many a yontbful lover.
Wblle mere are few plaoes naturally more
beautiful It 1b tbe only place ot Its kind near
our city. In tbat season wbere "a brighter
Iris oomes upon the burnished dove," young
men and maidens would by tbe rlppllug
f stream, tbe grassy mound and tbo friendly
shade, find here that quiet and repoEe which
are lovers strongest allies.
^ When we visit Judge and Mrs. Klugh we
have tbe somewhat paradoxical feeling that
we have enjoyed tbe freshness and beauty
of tbe country, wblle yet we have tarried in
town.

And then again the Farmers' Union

Wbeu it is known to the farmers of

We now have in preparation for our

Our experiments are conducted by

Letter to L. T. Miller.
Dear Sir; Mr N Av6ry, Delhi, N 1
had two bouses exactly alike, an
painted them: one Devoe lead-and-zic
tbe other barytes-and-zinc: be pal
same price for both paints.
He used six gallons ol lead-and-zin<
12 gallons barytes-and-zinc.
He paid $18 for painting lead-am
zinc, $36 for painting barytes-an
zinc.
Tbe total cost of tbe lead-and-zic
job was $27; the total cost of the bar;
tes-and-zinc job was $54.
He didn't know he was buyic
barytes; the dealer told him that pail
was as good as Devoe.
A fair example of how it general!
comes out, when you buy "sometbin
just as good." Better go by the nam
and the name is Devoe.
Yours truly
