Wade Cothran. Who Killed Holstein
Is Acqulted by an Abbeville jary.
The trial of the lease of the statealaaginst
Wade F. Cothran and Gary p
mer, charged with the killing ofj. c.
Holstein, resulted in a verdict of not
guilty the jury remaining out one hour
. The shooting took place in the street
in McCormick on the 22d or january,
1906, Holstein was taken to Augusta,
accompanied by Dr R. M, Fuller,
and placed in the hospital there, and
died the next morning.

the arm. The other two cuts failed to '

Gary Palmer testified that he was in
McCormick that day with his brotner
Wade, who bad a law Buit before the
magistrate and when he heard that
Wade was in trouble he ran to the
plaoe, and when he discovered that
it was Wsde Cothran he returned to
the drug store without any way meddling
with the difficulty. He denied
that.he patted Cothran on his breast
and told him "to go bis length, that he
was with him;" on the contrary he
. said that he had not spoken to Cothran
for nearly three years on account of
some disagreement between them;
that he wastapprehensive that Cotbran
might have shot him in his excitement.

lead, not corbonate. Sulphate costs

That paint was adulterated about

paid for. He "saved" 5 cents and it
cost him 30.

A poll tax or One Dollar per capita on all
male citizens between the a tie or 21 and 60
years, except such as are exempt by law, will
be collected.
A commutation road tax of One Dollar will
be collected the same time as other taxes
Irom all male citizens between the ages of 18
and 50 years, except such as are exempted by
law. Unless said tax is paid by first of March,
1905, eight days work upon the public highways
will be required under an overseer, If so much
be necessary.
Taxes are payable only In gold and silver
coin, United States currency. National Bank
Notes and Coupons of State Bonds which be
come payable durlcg the year, 1905. A tax of
50 cents will-be collected on each dog.
As so few avail themselves of the opportunity
of paying taxes at the times and places
heretofore designated, I will discontinue the
appointments over the County,and collect all
taxes at the Treasurer's office.
Parties desiring Information by mail In regard
to their taxes will please write before
December 16th, stating the location of their
property, and Include postage for reply, and
those paying taxes by check must Include the
charge for collection.
