Mr. Norman Cann of this city has gone to

He is. we believe, a native of Abbeville
Couhty, but for several years he has been
Identified with our town. He will be quits
an aqulsltlon to Anderson.
Anderxon seems to have the art of winning
citizens from this town. But as fast as Anderson
entices one citizen away, we get two

The City Counsel at a recent raeeUng passed
an ordinance against spitting on the side
walks. This is only following in the wake of
other cities, and Is right.
The habit of spitting on the sidewalk,
though indulged In t>y nearly all of us, can be
easily broken up, and I am sure that when
we consider the annoyance of the practice, we
will give due heed to the ordlncnce.
Dinner for Benefit of Shilob C'bnrch.
Tbe ladles of Shlloh Church, near Autre
vllle, will give a dinner Saturday. October 1st
for the benefit of tbe church. All those who
would help a good cause, aDd likewise get a
good dinner for very little cost, are Invited
to be present.
Death of Alten Black.
Born March 6th, 18S6 and dledtSeptember
17 b, 1901. He w?s a loving ami obedient boy.
His father wa* M. B. HIack. He is very much
mourned by all who knew him.

Mrs. W. W. Edwards was called to the
bedside of her brother, Mr. William Miller,
who is quite sick with typhoid fever at his
home In Ninety Six.
Mrs. Julia Brock Sharp, of Anderson, was
with home folks for a few days.
Mr. M. G. Donald has bought the J. H.
Wren place on Main St., and will move his
family later.
Miss Elizabeth Tolbert has returned from
a short visit among friends near Abbeville.
Little Miss Lillian McGlll entertained a
number of play-mates, at her home Saturdayday
afternoon In honor of her seventh birthday.
After enjoying a number of games ice
cream and cake were served, to the delight
of the little folks.
Rev. James Boyce preached Id the A. R. 1\
church at Rock Hill Sabbath, Dr. W. L
Pressly at Iva, and Mr. R. A. Lummus at
Donalds.
Rev. J. R. Edward filled the A. R. F, pulpit
at this place Sabbath morntng. lie and
family expect to leave Anderson next monday
for Mexico.
The Ersklne basket ball outfit came Monday
and the students expect to enjoy many
a leisure hour at the game. They hope lo

session. Any one lBteresied In Ersklne
College, who has a little surplus cash could
not do better tt-an to equip this fine institution
with an up-to-date Gymnasium.

A Contest was held Saturday night to choose

Oratorical Contest at Greenwood next April
The decision of the Judges will be announced
later.

Snipes will represent Due West at the meeting
