CHIMES.
On Wednesday evening, October 2Mb, 1903,
at 8:30 o'clock. Mies Lou Emily Voseand Mr.
Robert Hill, Jr., were united In marriage at
the residence of Mr. W. T. McDonald, the
home of the bride.
The ceremony was performed by Rev. Preston
B. Wells, of the M. E. Church,of this city.
About eight o'clocfc the Invited guests began
to arrive and soon the parlors were well
filled, and as the hands on the old family
clock pointed to the appointed hour the
guests were on tip-toe watching for the appearanoe
of the bridal party, when lo! the
chords of the piano were struck and the old
favorite march (Mendelssohn) floated out on
the evening Dreeze?iih sweet music iuuclhus
a responsive chord In the hearts of all present.
The bridal party entered in the following;
order:
Miss Ellen Gambrell, as bridesmaid, with
Mr. Lewis Blount, taking their place on the
* right.
Next entered Miss Bessie Murray, as maid
of honor, with Mr. George Clark as best man,
taking their place on the left.
Next entered Mrs. Claude R. Beacham, of
Atlanta, as dame of honor, taking her place
to the right of the minister.
Next entered the bride on the arm of the
groom, taking their position Immediately under
a triplet of white bells, when all was
hushed, save the sweet strain of music which
echoed soft and low through the room during
the entire ceremony.
Miss Gambrell looked very handsome attired
In an elegant blue silk gown and spangled
net, ornaments, pearls, shower bouquet
or wane caruauuun.
MIbb Bessie Murray looked very pretty in a
pink organdie gown with ribbons and pearls,
carrying a shower bouquet of pink carnations.
Mrs. Claude R. Beacham looked most
charming In a handBome white silk gown,
lace trlmmlDg8 and carrying a shower bouquet
of pink carnations.
The bride never looked more lovely and sty
llsh gowned In a beautiful white silk, cascaded
with lace, and carrying a shower bouquetof
white carnations. The only ornament
worn by the bride was an elegant broach, the
gift of the groom, set with pearls, from whose
center fparkled a beautiful diamond.
Mrs. James A. Hill, as she presided at the
piano, looked lovely gowned in an elegant
cream crepe de chene, trimmings, lace and
silk.
The groom and groomsmen looked very
handsome in full evening dress.
Artistic planning and skillful fingers made
the home quite pretty and attractive. Ferns,
palms. pot plants and out dowers were arranged
around the rooms and ball while gat'?
lands of nonde-scrlp or wild rose were gracefully
festooned about the windows, mantels
and doorways oarrylng out the color Bcheme
of green and white.
After congratulations were extended, dainty
refreshments were served.
The bride and groom are well known In the
olty and have the esteem and good will of a
large clrole of friends who wish for them every

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hill, Jr.. are at home

shower bouquet of bride's roses.
The bride and groom are well known to our
people and have a host of friends who exteod

Mr. R. P. McNeill spent last Saturday and
Sunday with homefolks at Sbaron. Mr. McNeill
Is one of tbe rising young men of AbbeB
vllle oounty. He has won tbe esteem and

has been for a number of years, nntil he now
receive# a fine salary won by merit.
Mr. George Clark is making weekly visits
to Athens, Georgia, about which some of tbe
Abbeville yonng ladles are very anxious.

Mr. Dendy Miller spent Sunday last in Atlanta.
Mr. Granville Beal, of Calhoun Falls, spent
last Sunday In the city as the guest of Dr. F.
?. Harrison.
Mr. D. R. Mltchener, who has been in tbe
employ of Dr. Speed of this city for several
years, has accepted a position in Jacob's
Pharmacy, of Atlanta. Our people regret to
see him and bis family leave our city, as tbey
have won tbe hearts of many of our people,
whose best wishes follow them to their new
home.
Miss Annie Cochran after spending a delightful
visit with her brotber, Mr. J. S. Cochran
and family, left last Saturday for her
home.
Rev. John O. Wllspn preaobed in the Methodist
cburcb of tbls city last Sunday night to
a large and attentive congregation.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hill, after a pleasant stay
with friends and relatives In Atlanta, returned
home last Thursday.
Miss Ida Cason, of Jewel. Georgia, Is expected
In tbe city tbls week, where she will be tbe
charming guest of her friend, Miss Ellen
Gambrell.
