Wicked.
I take tbls means of Informing the people
of Abbeville tbat 1 am a member of tbe Second
Advent Christian Charcb. and tbe authorized
representative of tbat denomination
here In this olty. I will be glad to explain
the doctrines of this church to any one who
would like to know them, or to give tracts to
any person who will read tbem. The doo
trlnes and tenets of this Christian denomination
are In accordance wltb tbe teachings or
tbe Bible and are fonnded upon tbe truths ol
the Scrlptnre. Its two fundamental doctrines
are?
First, conditional Immortality, tbat Is, tbat
no man Inherits Immortality, bat it is tbe
gift of God to be bestowed upon the righteous
at tbe resurrection.
Seoond.that there Is not now, or ever will
be, a place of punishment where tbe wicked
will suffer eternally, but that all tbe unrlgbtAmia

PSALM-SINGING PRESBYTERIANS.

Washington Post.
Kev. Oliver Johnston, of South Carolina,
who Is visiting in the olty, will preach tomorrow
morning at the Ecklngton Presbyterian
Charob, oorner of North Capitol and Q, streets.
Tbeditterenoe may seem shadowy, but some
of the branches of tbe Presbyterian Church
are separated only by tbelr hymnody. Tue
psalm singing branches of tbe denomination,
to whiob class the Rev. Mr. Johnson belongs,
still bold to an Inspired psalmody for use In
divine worsblp; tbat Is, their church bymoal
Is confined to a collection, in metrical version,
of the Inspired hymns of tbe ancient
Hebrews as found in tbe songs of the Bible.
Moat of tbe hymn books compiled for u*e tn
Presbyterian chnrchca contain many of tbe
Bible mymns in tbe form used by tbe pnalrn
singers, and a few years ago when the Presbyterians
(Sooth) proposed a union with tbe
"Seceders," as their psalm-slnglng brethren
are called in that section, they suggested tbat
the p?alter used oy me "aeceaerB oe primeu
bodily In all Presbyterlam hymn books, so
tbat each congregation could have what It
preferred Id the way of songs for tbe sanctuary.
Tbe larger branches of the Presbyterian
Church admits bymns of modern composition
to their song books and use them la publlo
worship equally with the songs which Id
Holy Writ have come down through the
ages.
The pastor of tbe Ecklngton Church, tbe
Rev. Dr. William T. Thompson, was pastor
lor tweDty years of churches Id South CaroHoa.
and today be will often Id aDDOuaclng
a hymn to be sung recall that It Is a psalm lu
tbe verslOD snog by the "Seceders," to whom
he Is always ready to pay tribute as a people
of high Ideals, wbo walk in tbe old ways and
ilv will not be turoed aside. The church In
South Carolina of wblob tbe Rev. Mr. Johnson
Is pastor Is tbe largest psalm-slnglDg con
