Prof. Delia Torre lo Lecture in the
Court lloiiNe.
Prof. Thomas Delia Torre, of Charleston,
will come to Abbeville sometime next week
and deliver his Interesting lecture on "The
Ruins of Ancient Home." Prof. Delhi Torre
In a fluent speaker and this lecture in very
blghly spoken of. Last year It was delivered
before an audience of over one thousand in
Charleston and was the best of that course ol
the southern .Lyceum.
Prof. Delia Torre Ik of the faculty of the
College of Charleston anil is one of the loremost
educators In the South. The lecture
will be under the auspices of the Womans
Club and will be free to all.

Miss Julia D. Charles, now of the Piedmont
Schools has accepted a position In the Abbeville
Graded School to which she was eleoted
at a re.-ent meeting of the board of trustee*.
Miss Charles Is an A. B. and A. M. graduate
of Con verse College, and has attended Summer
Schools In New York, and at Chicago
University, and has had several years successful
experience. She was recommended
by Mr. McKlnnon'sagency. he having taught
her when he was teaching in Chi cor a College,
Greenville.

Mrs. Cora Sibley, after a pleasaut weeks

to Winchester, Va., last Wednesday.
Mr. Walter Dllllng received some fine rock
fish from Weldon, N. C., a few days ago. One
of them weighed seventeen pounds.
Miss Lois Loner has gone to visit friends at
Honea Path.
Miss Eva Loner is at Cross Hill visiting relatives
and friends. She will enjoy herself and
afford enjoyment to others.

Capt. G. N. Nickels Is representing the Due
West Lodge of Knights of Pythias at the State
meeting at Spartauburg this week.
Rev. D. G. Caldwell was installed as pastor
over the congregation at Bethlehem last Saturday.
Dr. F. Y. Fressly addressing the pastor
and Rev. O. Y. Bonner the people. A good
congregation was present to greet the new
pastor.
Rev. Joseph L. Fressly returned Monday
afternoon from Long Cane where be assisted
tbe pastor on Sabbath in a sacramental meeting.
He reports that Mrs. 0. Y. Bonner attended
preaching at Troy on Sabbath.
Saturday morning this community was
shocked to learn of tbe death .of Mr. Adonlram
Agnew. He had been In poor health for
several years and it Is supposed by his friends
that his mind becoming unbalanced be took
his own life. About seven o'clock Friday afternoon
with a pistol of 112 calibre he fired one
?bot into his right ear and another into his
right temple and in a few moments expired.
Mr. Agnew was a son of Mr. Andrew Agnew
and was forty-five years old. He was first
married to Miss Etnma Agnew who died several
years ago. He was afterwards married
to Miss Willie Tribble, who with his six children
are left to mourn tbe death of husband
and father. They have the sympathy ol the
entire community. The deceased lived on
his farm one mile from Donalds and was
highly esteemed by all who knew blm. His
remains were laid to rest in tbe cemetery at
Doualds, Saturday afternoon in the presence
of kindred and friends.
Mrs. Mattie Floyd, of Spartanburg, and
Mrs. Sadie Wright, of Pelzer, are visiting
their sister, Mrs. J. J. Lindsay.

another Monday alternoon is the record
for tbe past forty-eight hours.
Master James JNeel Bonner went to Troy
Monday morning to see his mother, sister
ulla, grandpa, grandma, aunt Emma and his
cousin Mary.
Mr. F. W. Anderson, of Toronto, Canada,
representing the Student Volunteer Movement
visited tbe Young Men's Christian Association
here arriving on Saturday. Saturday
night he addressed the Y. M. C. A. Sabbath
morning he preached in the A. K. P.
church. At 3 p. m., be addressed the young
ladies at the Female College. At -1:80 p. m.,
he conducted a second service in the church.
At 8 p. m., be talked again at the prayer meeting
in the Y. M. C. A. ball. Mr. Anderson
has a fine presence, a splendid voice and says
what be has to say In such a way as to make
a lasting Impression on his hearers. He Is
now about thirty years of age. At tbe age ol
fourteen be left school and whs engaged in the
retail and later In the wholesale dry goods
