Antidots For Poison.
In case of poisoning, the simple rule
is to get the poison out the stomach as
soon as possible, says an exchange.
Mustard and salt both act promptly as
emetics, and they are always at hand
in the home. Stir a teaspoonful in a
glass of water, and let the patient
swallow it quicKly. If it does not
cause vomiting iu five minuses, repeat
the dose. After vomiting, give the
whites of two or three eggs, and then
send for a doctor.
Corn Bread.
Take a cupful of granulated cornmeal,
a cupful and a half of boiling
milk, a tablespoonful of butter, a
heaping teaspoonful of sugar, a level
teaspoonful of salt, aud two eggs. Mix
together the meal, salt and sugar, scald
with the boiling milk, add the butter,
and when the mixture is sufficiently
cool stir in the yolk and white of the
' eggs, beaten separately. Bake in
loaves.
For a man to exert this power in doing
good so far as he can is a glorious
task.
He that begins not to take life from
(, Christ shall never live; be that doth
shall never die.
If we frame ourselves another form
that God prescribes, we worship not
him, but ourselves.
It is a great mercy to enjoy the gospel
of peace, but a greater to enjoy the
peace of the gospel.
Learning i% not education. Half of
all the fools in the world are "educated."
Learning gives the means of
acquiring that which, correctly used,
enlightens the mind.
