of attuiip. it is hard on the boys to be thrown
out of work at any time, and more especially
so al this season of the year, and a year like
this one will probably be: "It'sa long lane
without ii turn," and brighter and better
times will soon come. Cheer up boys and

pay expenses. If no more.

CANNING FACTORY AND LAUNDRY.
We have heard Rome talk of a canning factory
and Bteatn laundry being established
Moon at this place. These two Industries if
properly run and roannged ounht. to pay the
Investor#, if not a handsome profit, a fair rate
of Interest on their money. Thecannln* laclory
would furnish employment fora number
if hands during the season, and would give
some of our farmers a chance to raise tomatoes
and such other vegetables as would be required
lor the factory, Instead of 5c. cotton,
and the charge would most certainly be u
profitable .one to them. The steam laundry
would run the entire year, and give work to a
lew wnse earners. We hope these enterprises
will take definite shape, and be focts, not
theories. Our town needs them and needs
them badly.
PATENT MEDICINE.
As is always the case, last Monday there
