The town Ik literally full of the prett'est goods
that ever met the vision or gratified the most j
rvfined taste.
Our merchants are overstocked, and heing ;
(inqlous to put their goods in money will *eli
nearly everything at very near the actual cost
mark. Drive nightmare dream* Irom your
souls. and gel something that will be pleasant
to look upon.
Xot Klrb.
Our merchants are honest and fair in their 1
dealings. No one ever complains of tricks or
harp practices. They tell I heir customers 1
the exact facta about the goods and then sell 1
t item at low figures. This Is the reason that
t he fame and good name of our merchant* ex
lend to every quarter of our territory. They
have the greatest quantity of goo Is, and tliej '
are so anxious to sell them mat ihey will almost
do as the customers do?sell them at '
vourown price. 1

' THE POULTRY SHOW.
?
An Expected Snccewi-The Fluent Ex- I
hibitlon of Fowl* Ever Seen in
tliiM Country.
1'ast Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday
Abbeville had the finest poultry show ever
spen in this country.
Contrary to nil expectation Rosenberg's
large hall was filled with the tluest specimen*
ol every variety ?>t chickens.
The coops extended full length of both sides
and the back wall, and In many Instances the
birds were crowded. Lovers of poultry, and
men who have seen many exuiuiiium-, ^avc
thin snow great praise 1101 only for the finest
exhibits hut lor ihe variety and ureal number.
The success of this great show Ik largely due
to Mr. Roberts. Link, who has devoted much
time and attention to the enterprise. He has
corresponded with Interested parties abroad,
and worked up considerable local interest.Hewaaoneot
the moving spirits at. the be
ginning, and all through he was most energetically
and unceasingly.
Kvorybody wauls Lite association to live
and it is proposed to adopl Hie suggestion
which has r>een made In lormer years uy Mr.
H. H. Hill to gel up a col: show in September.
It was to his public spirit that we had several 1
interesting colt shows, but because of lack ol
the touch ol the elbow he let It drop a few (
years ago.
If Ihe poultry show would combine with
the colt show, and have the exhibition in
September, we might have a most Interesting
occasion. {
It is astonishing to know to what extent the
poultry raising business Is engaged. From
these exhibits ii will be seen that many men I
are uoultry lauciers.
One pair of chickens at this show was held (
ntSio, and they did not taken premium eithsr.
That shows the perfection to which the .
fowls have been brought. '
Mr. R. s. Link of our vlllsge has some fine
fowls at fancy prices About a montli ago he (
told several trios at 510 per trio.
Dr. G. A. Neutter and Mr. K. C. Connor anil i
?thers have done faithluI and efficient work "
In the recent show to alt of whom a lull share
>f credit Is due. |
The projectors ol the poultry show succeedHi
much better than they ever expected, and d
heir success furnishes one more proof thai "
til things at e possible to those who have en
-Tgy, pluck and good judgment. Gentlemen, I
